I like what the Brewers got out of that.A possible closer in Cordero to take over for Turnbow who has been sucking.Nix/Mench are both decent outfielders.

francisco ain't much better.

No doubt Cordero isn't good right now, but he has been good and is still young.Lee is the cleanup hitter that Texas needs to bat behind Young and in front of Teixeira.

talk about a salary dump

Good trade for both teams in my opinion. Lee is a very good all around player (except maybe defense - he has 12 SBs so he has some speed too). Mench and Nix have both shown that they can be solid offensive players although Nix hasn't done shit in a while. Cordero until this season was lights out so maybe getting him out of the texas bandbox will renew his confidence. Lee will fit in well into the Texas lineup and should love playing in Arlington. The Rangers needed to get rid of some of their OFs and this frees up one more spot.

the trade makes no sense to me, I don't think either team got better from this
7/28/2006 12:33:11 PM
how did the Rangers not get better they got one of the best hitters in the game this season. They gave up Mench who is a marginal starter... Nix who has been in the minors all season long.... and Cordero whose ERA is almost 5...

I really expected him to go to the tigers... Good move by the rangers.

Rangers gave up way too muchthis thread failed to mention that it wasn't just Carlos Lee going to the Rangers.indeed it is a great trade. i thought it was Lee straight up[Edited on July 28, 2006 at 2:01 PM. Reason : .]

possibly the worst way to analyze a trade

Pretty fair trade in my eyes. Texas gets a big bat to fill in Texeira's role since he's been in a year-long slump. Milwaukee gets a possible closer and two everyday outfielders, with Mench having the potential to hit 25-30 HRs. Detroit wasnt willing to part with their young guys (Verlander, Zumaya) nor did the White Sox (McCarthy). So Milwaukee took the next best deal, got players that are already major league ready and can still help if they somehow get back in the wild card race.

Milwaukee got fucked. Mench will probably leave at the end of the season and he's a dime a dozen guy anyway.Nix is an everyday outfielder? Yeah, in AAA.Cordero is blah.Lee is a stud, and i dont know much about the prospect but he's somewhat regarded. Dumb trade, they should have at least gotten prospects.

If Texiera ever finds his power again, the 3-4-5 of Young, Lee and Tex will be easily the best middle of the order in the westLook for the Angels to try to counter with Soriano or Tejada
