i find it hard to believe that all of the top 20 games in carter-finley were ncsu wins, but i guess that's what you get with something like that.
7/25/2006 4:43:14 PM
^^six, but it sounded like the best ending....what can I say? I almost went with one of the penn state games, because my family has talked about them so much, but i liked the 86 game better....^one of the penn state games was a loss
7/25/2006 4:43:53 PM
^^it is an nc state listas a general football fan you may find good in a lossbut as a die hard state fan, like myself, nothing good comes from a loss and hence it is not a "good" game
7/25/2006 4:47:20 PM
ok i cant figure out how to vote, somebody post a link to the voting for my dumbass

7/25/2006 4:57:43 PM
ah that worked, i was ignoring that and going straight to the football page

I voted for the 98 FSU game because I was there. That game was hands down the best and most fun State game I ever attended.

Huh, I was at all the games from #15-20. I'm actually suprised that I've apparently seen 25% of the best games at Carter-Finley, considering I've never had season tickets. If I had to rank just those that I saw though, I'd say the one against FSU in '98 was the best because it was a pretty amazing upset. Torry scored 5 TD's at FSU the year before, and I remember all the FSU defenders talking before the game in '98 about how they were gonna shut him down, how Peter Warrick was the best receiver in the conference, etc. Then Torry burned them for two more TD's in the upset. Yes lawd. What I think best epitomized the Mike O'Cain era was that during the weeks between upsetting FSU and Syracuse that year, we lost on the road to a horrible Baylor team. That loss would probably make the "worst road defeats in NC State history" list. Thanks, cocaine.[Edited on July 25, 2006 at 6:47 PM. Reason : lawd lawd]

I was at 16 and 17 as well as
7/25/2006 6:52:20 PM
#15 was the first game I ever went to. I thought all the games were going to be like that.
7/25/2006 7:28:36 PM
The FSU game in '98 was my freshman year and there has not been a better game i've attended since then... The only downer the whole day was getting pepper sprayed by RPD carrying the goal posts down hillsborough.... Bastards!
7/25/2006 7:31:27 PM
.... thats bs they all just went in chronological order
7/25/2006 10:26:28 PM
^ dude, that's not the rankings, thats just the 20 you can pick from to vote. once you vote, they'll show you the rankings:

I have the panoramic aerial photo from #20 hanging on my wall right now.
7/26/2006 2:06:36 PM
^^Im glad to see the one that should be #1 is #1.That game is a NC State legend and one that I will never forget. Torry and our secondary won that game almost by themselves.

1a. East Carolina 27, Miami 23, Sep. 27, 1999: The Pirates overcame a 20-3 halftime deficit to upset the 9th-ranked Miami Hurricanes despite losing their homefield advantage due to a hurricane. The game was moved to Carter-Finley from its scheduled location in Greenville due to flooding from Hurricane Floyd. The Pirates were forced to practice in facilities provided by the previous week's opponent, South Carolina, and the players had not been home in over a week due to the destruction caused by Hurricane Floyd. The Pirates outscored the Hurricanes 24-3 in the second half en route to an emotional victory over the aptly-named Hurricanes of Miami.I'm sure you all loved that.

rushing the field was so much of the shit, im glad i got to do it in bball and football (vs duke and fsu, respectively)

Pretty surprised no one has brought up the Duke game from 94. The funny part, was that a lot of people had left when Duke went up 23-7. The goalpost tearing down was weak, even though Duke had a ranked team (weird statement). Duke was insanely close to beating us that year along with UNC. It took about a 70 run (can't remember if it was a pass or return) from UNC to nip Duke by a point with under 2 minutes to go. Think, Duke was within 2 heroic efforts to posting a 7-1 conference record and a Gator Bowl appearance in 94. I think the FSU win from 02 was solid. The 98 game was an absolute fluke, with 6 picks from Weinke, although you take it anyway you can against FSU. 02, we simply dominated their O, McPherson's ordeal notwithstanding IMO.UVA game (03) was exciting start to finish, never a dull moment, and also served as the last time I saw us defeat a conference opponent at home until Maryland this year because I was at a wedding when we played Wake in 04 at home
7/26/2006 10:15:19 PM
uva 03 was special. classic duel between rivers and schaub on national television. philip completed something like his first 13 or 17 passes. t.a. had a huge run at the end to seal the deal.what a great game.

damn, if only we had K-Rob through his senior year...
7/28/2006 8:35:36 AM
who's gallery is that FSU picture from?
7/28/2006 8:53:08 AM
^^Rivers would have been the #1 pick instead of 4 because we would have been winning bigger bowls each year. Imagine how many more yards and TDs Philip would have put up with K-Rob for 2 more years.
7/28/2006 9:05:29 AM
amato ran k-rob off (a buddy of mine talked to him about it in a bar after k-rob declared for the draft - said he and amato just "didn't get along so well")
7/28/2006 11:50:16 AM
based on k-rob's history....it doesn't look like he got along with any authority figure.

^not to mention the fact the dude fucking mentions the game in the article. apparently ecu people are so stupid they cant even click a link and read.
7/28/2006 2:59:04 PM
the 1999 Clemson game deserves recognition.BUT THE 1998 FSU GAME IS BY FAR THE BEST!The 1997 ECU game was my "personal" favorite considering we had to put up with a bunch of ECU dickwads in front of us. If I am not mistaken, I recall that ECU went for a 2 point conversion in 1996 to run up the score in that game. With the final touchdown in the 1997 game, State lined as if they were going for a 2 point conversion and Jamie Barnett took a knee. It was a SWEET feeling. A classy way of getting back at ECU for having no class.
7/30/2006 1:13:00 AM
1999 ECU beating Miami, then tearing down our goalposts.
7/30/2006 1:31:08 AM
^^agreed, the 97 ECU game was the shit, it was also the 1st time in a few years that the goal posts came down which then brought like 4 games almost in a row where they came down... including EZU's tearing ours down after they beat miami. Of course, one of the conditions for them to play there was to put $ down before the game in case the goal posts did come down!

Im proud to say I was at games 14-20 I was on the hill when K-rob caught that pass in the endzone against GT. Sweet.and the roar at the end of the virgina game where TA broke away for that 30 yard scamper was deafening.
7/30/2006 2:17:11 PM
here's to adding a few more to that list this year!
7/30/2006 3:41:22 PM
^^ didn't that set the volume record for CF?[Edited on July 30, 2006 at 3:44 PM. Reason : the TA run]

i don't know if it did, but the 02 FSU game is the loudest game i have ever been to, and that includes games at VT, Clemson, WFU, and BC. the game was constantly loud, except for when we were on offense of course. i tried to call my brother who was watching the game on TV back in Charlotte, right after we had a huge play, and the place was going insane. i had my phone as loud as it possibly could go, and he still couldn't hear me! I thought it was well documented that he bet for FSU. I also don't remember him throwing any picks or throwing at receivers feet or anything strange, and I think people went back and watched it and agreed. Our D was sick that game. If you want to say anyone threw a game between FSU and NCSU, you'd have to look at Kiker.
7/30/2006 9:53:23 PM
does anyone have the vid of the 02 FSU game? i think it was once on ACCvideos.com.[Edited on July 30, 2006 at 9:59 PM. Reason : ]
