Its not really anything new - but I like to see research progressing in a 3rd method of achieving fusion.

From things I've read elsewhere, it's believed to be theoretically possible, but for some reason I can't remember, it will never be practical for energy purposes, because the amount of energy it generates is pathetically small, and it requires far more energy to catalyze the process than is created. However, it would have been good for studying fusion reactions.
