http://www.getusout.org/Should we allow an organization on our shores that:-does not respect property rights-will not commit to fighting terrorism-promotes humanism (worship of "mother earth") and the unimportance of christian values-wants to ban civilians from owning guns-runs corrupt organizations worldwide who have abused authority as well as people-legitimizes despots like saddam and the president of iranIt would be in the best interest of America to remove ourselves from this organization and remove this cancer from our shores!

THA BIG GIRL?
7/24/2006 1:43:34 PM
can we just discuss the issue, please?
7/24/2006 1:47:32 PM
We cannot start picking and choosing which organizations we allow to operate on our shores. Until the UN begins funding hamas or something we have no grounds of kicking them out. And giving up our security council seat is silly, we should stay till they throw us out. As for funding the UN, it would be reasonable begin partial funding of just those programs Congress agrees with. That is our right as a soverign nation, and if we wish to go that route that is our choice.

Yes. What good would pulling out of the UN do for us aside from save us a few dollars? In that situation we would still have the same organization with the same problems that you mentioned except we could do nothing to try and remedy the problem. It would be very similar to us abstaining from the ICC. For all of its problems, we can do nothing to help solve them because we decided to not sign on to it.
7/24/2006 1:53:27 PM
ive given the reasons why they are not in our best interest, and there are many more behind the link.im not sure what joshua there is getting at, but please keep it out of the discussion.

THA BIG GIRL STRIKES AGAIN
7/24/2006 1:58:53 PM
im going to refrain from engaging in namecalling, but ill just say that this is completely expected from a group of liberals such as yourselves.keep it out or youll be reported (now that we actually have moderation here)
7/24/2006 2:04:07 PM
I'm a liberal?
7/24/2006 2:05:12 PM
7/24/2006 2:11:23 PM
I'd refrain from name calling, but this topic has already been discussed and threads made so I don't feel bad if anyone runs amok in this thread.

"-promotes humanism (worship of "mother earth") and the unimportance of christian values"have you ever heard the term, "separation of church and state"
7/24/2006 3:41:32 PM
shut up, randy
7/24/2006 3:42:17 PM
Seperation of church and state doesn't really apply to the UN. I just find it funny that he wants a worldwide body to endorse one religion. Its really a shallow view.
7/24/2006 4:05:47 PM
1. If I was once a troll, I am not now. None of my most recent posts resemble the initial liberal baiting I did.2. On the topic of account abuse/aliases: I was suspended long ago and never unsuspended. I was never told what I did and never unsuspended in accordance with the rules of the site. There seem to be people who do mch worse things than liberal baiting that get unsuspended eventually. I never was unsuspended, and since I wasnt for whatever reason, I had to pay the 5 dollar fee to get another account. I'm now here for discussion, not "trolling" as you may claim.I'll address the other issues dealing w/ this thread later.
7/24/2006 4:15:03 PM
I know that it doesn't apply to the UN, but when he asks, "Should we allow an organization on our shores that" I assume that he is referring to "we" as Americans...and as Americans separation of church and state does apply...either way I agree, a very shallow idea

i'm not sure how much they really give a fuck, but at least they pretend to.

why the hell should we give up our voice in the un? it reminds me of:http://brentroad.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=420680

Are you under the impression that aid and diplomacy will cease to exist without them?
7/26/2006 4:41:58 PM
are you under the impression that everyone should fall in line w/ how you think the world should work?
7/26/2006 4:47:34 PM
Randy you are clearly a trollAnyone who is a not a pussy whiny liberal is a trollthat said, i think we should keep our seat...but the organization is a clusterfuck...hence why we dont really care what they say and we decide whats best for our own country]
7/26/2006 4:51:20 PM
^^I'm not alone. What's wrong with wanting to ensure that we are able to act in our best interest? My hope is that the organization will disband like the League of Nations. Unfortunately, it might take a major disaster to see this happen, so I hope that our withdrawal will serve as an example to others, and hopefully other nations will follow us out.[Edited on July 26, 2006 at 4:54 PM. When the hell has what the UN wanted stopped the US from doing anything the current gov really wanted to do?
7/26/2006 4:57:01 PM
why should they invoke their wreckless, irresponsible agenda on the world, or even have a chance to?
7/27/2006 12:18:49 AM
Because "they" are the democratic consensus of the world.
7/27/2006 12:20:17 AM
how exactly is the UN "democratic"?
7/27/2006 12:21:47 AM
well, the countries in the UN have these things called votes...
7/27/2006 12:28:15 AM
how many of these do the us people, who value property and their unique traditions, have?
7/27/2006 12:30:16 AM
First of all, it's the democratic consensus of the world, not of the U.S. people over the world.Secondly, we have veto power over anything that goes through the UN.
7/27/2006 12:35:47 AM
We have one vote; the same as any other nation. We can also veto pretty much anything we want to as well. So we have more power than most.

why are you offended when someone calls you a liberal if you are a liberal?would you rather be labelled an EVIL CONSERVATIVE?]
7/27/2006 10:29:18 AM
In the context that people most often use it on this board, its blatant name calling. I'm not the least bit offended, just calling a spade a spade.
