Thank God someone stopped those Godless scientists.

Bush would never use tax payer dollars to kill people.[Edited on July 19, 2006 at 2:32 PM. Reason : non-brown people]
7/19/2006 2:32:26 PM
What if the stem cells came from brown people?
7/19/2006 2:37:46 PM
This is a sad day :-/

What would be funny is if one of his daughters got paralyzed in a drunk driving accident (since they like to hit up the bars so much I hear), and the money from the stem cell research that he vetoed could give them movement again. Would sort be like Dick Cheney's daughter and the whole gay marriage thing. Kinda.
7/19/2006 3:05:54 PM
ugh, disgusting.congrats, religious right! you're fucking it up for the rest of us again.

scientists should just run every experiment by the commander in chief so that he can tell us what is and is not alive
7/19/2006 4:34:27 PM
he was elected commander in chief, wasnt he
7/19/2006 4:35:46 PM
no he was never elected, but he is president.[Edited on July 19, 2006 at 4:38 PM. Reason : 234]
7/19/2006 4:37:29 PM
He was the second time.
7/19/2006 4:40:59 PM
I'm not that offended. If there was any validity to the experiments they could get all the private funding they wanted. If wall-street refuses to fund your research, why should uncle sam be expected to do so?

7/19/2006 4:45:24 PM

the average.

ADULT stem cell research, the one with scientific results, is OK. EMBRYONIC stem cell research, the one with no results whatsoever and with the side effect of killing people, is NOT OK. THIS is the kind of stem cell research Bush vetoed, and rightfully so.What could be simpler?
7/19/2006 5:10:40 PM
ahahaha
7/19/2006 5:12:57 PM
^^i am very uncomfortable with you implying that bush did something that makes sensethat really doesnt fare well with me and my ideals
7/19/2006 5:18:14 PM
7/19/2006 5:22:41 PM
no point in even trying to be taken seriously on the wolf web...go on tv or something where you can get your opinion out to more people than a few dozen college kids
7/19/2006 5:24:12 PM
i am on tv
7/19/2006 5:24:44 PM
well i'm sure people take you more seriously than anybody on here
7/19/2006 5:25:10 PM
I'm really curious how a stem cell that is about to be thrown away is supposed to magically turn into life.
7/19/2006 5:26:56 PM
you obviously missed all political tool "snowflake" babies on display this afternoon behind bush at his veto party.
7/19/2006 5:28:08 PM
with conservatives, if it has the potential to be life human life IT IS HUMAN LIFEof course bush doesnt have the balls to ban the destruction of embryoes, the only logical position to derive from such a beliefhe just wants to make sure their destruction doesnt help cure anything -- he wont do anything about the fact that hundreds of embryoes are destroyed daily by fertility clinics[Edited on July 19, 2006 at 5:34 PM. Reason : sdfgsf]
7/19/2006 5:31:53 PM
Where is the potential. It might get disposed of beside some sperm and then find its way back into some lady's vag?
7/19/2006 5:36:27 PM
I COMPLETELY disagree with President Bush on this issue! And so do many conservatives, including Nancy Reagan.
7/19/2006 6:57:24 PM
you fools are trying to attribute logical thought to GWB. What actually happened was that Dick Cheney promised to feed Bush a banana if he signed the veto.
7/19/2006 7:06:22 PM
i hated the way he said "...so I vetoed it."so devoid of any perception of thought or understanding of the subject in question
7/19/2006 7:14:06 PM
Haha that bothered me too, but I couldn't put my finger on why.
7/19/2006 7:18:29 PM
7/19/2006 7:22:54 PM
Unfortunately, it's red meat being thrown to the party base by Bush. Elections are right around the corner. . . . Saying that both parties do this sort of thing doesn’t make me feel any better--and more importantly, the decision doesn’t heal anyone who needs it. Even though I’m not a big fan of his, it reminds me of a line from a song by John Mellencamp: “Calling it your job, ol’ hoss, sure don’t make it right.” Yeah. . .exactly.

^bingo. It saddens me so many of you hate that a politician followed his promised course of action. Like it or not at least we got what we voted for.
7/19/2006 9:59:17 PM
SURE WOULDNT WANT ANYONE TAKING A LOOK AT THE FACTS AND RE-EVAULATING THEIR PREVIOUS STANCEerrrrrrr....i mean flip-flopping. NO FLIP-FLOPPERS!!!!!111

Bush questioned his recent veto after being handed ugly, crying baby."What cell did this thing stem from?" chuckled the president.

Josh###, I believe the federal government doesn't foot the bill for that.Which is what the bill and veto were about.
7/19/2006 10:18:43 PM
not to mention he's the head cheerleader for democracy all over the worldyet when both the house and senate pass the bill and polls show an overwhelming majority of americans support government funded research he still panders to his crazy base
7/19/2006 10:20:06 PM
7/19/2006 10:24:51 PM
pleaseamericans want this
7/19/2006 10:26:44 PM
I see, so rather than proving it in any way, you just assumed we did. That's fine. Even if they did, they could get enough support in congress to overturn the veto.
