Or specifically "File: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\atalc.dll"Keeps triggering my virus scan, but it can't clean or quarantine the file. What does this file do? What can be done to fix it? It's triggering a new virus notification every 4 seconds.Symantec AntiVirus Notification:

also just found jkhff.exe in the same folder that i was able to remove... i am guessing that the dll was associated with that since the notifications have stopped

start - run - regedit ctrl-f3 (find) search for atalcsame thing for jhkff (or if it finds another file with a diff name soon, search for that file)remove all entries from the registry, reboot your computer from a windows XP cd -- go into the recovery console see: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314058/if you need info how to get there --cd windowscd system32del atalc.dlldel jhkff.exe(You will be able to delete any file in this way, so be VERY careful what you are deleting and make sure you really want it gone)Also note, in the regedit, while you are searching for that dll file, you may find a registry entry that is basically renaming a .tmp file to atalc.dll on reboot -- if you see this, make sure you delete that temporary file as wellShould help out quite a bit at least --
