So i would like to get a new car stereo that has a USB input. I am looking at the Kenwood KDC-x590 that was mentioned in the other thread but are there any other models that I should consider? Im trying not to spend much more than $250. I hate the look of most aftermarket stereos so I don't want something that looks like you would find it in a 16 year old's civic, being able to change the display color would be a huge plus.Other models I have seen are the JVC KD-G720 and the Clarion DB365USB. I don't like the JVC but the Clarion looks OK so far.Anyone know of any others I should check out?

so far i'm really impressed with the kenwood deck. the ability to fine tune the audio is really nice and the usb port is a huge plus. since I won't be using cd's very often the fold down face isn't going to be a problem and the display is much easier to see in daylight compared to the MP222 deck I had in there before. You will need to find a USB drive that has a VERY low power consumption, like a 1" or 1.8" drive. I had to pick up an adapter at radio shack to provide more power to the 2.5" external enclosure to get it to work, but now that it does it's awesome.

keep your doors locked and face plate inside

what do you use the USB port for? can you plug the Ipod in it?

for what it's worth, I know the head audio installer at Circuit City on Glenwood, and he's really not a big fan of JVC headunits as far as build quality. He said he's seen a lot of them of break. I personally have a JVC headunit with the customizeable backgrounds that I bought off of a friend, and I've found the actual radio to be flaky at times, even though I know all my connections are fine.

i agree ^^^^ the deck is awesome so many features for so cheap i seriously wouldn't look any farther...+ how many peoples radios talk to them (wait for the vw guys to chime in cause they have it too) but seriously not that many the only real gripe i have is the pain in the ass it is to see the clock if you have it display track names when you play them[Edited on July 16, 2006 at 10:59 PM. The JVC looks like crap and the quality isn't great. The Clarion had really bad reviews, looks like I'm getting the Kenwood.

yeah... the kenwood knob thing is kinda a pain but... i usually just use the remote anywaybut the sound is great and it has the features needed to build a top notch system... pre outs hd radio compatible talking mp3 player all cool shit.

Yeah, im not a fan of the boy racer blue display but i like everything else i read.I could honestly care less about half the features and will never use them, but I will probably use the USB 85% of the time.

are you talking about the volume knob on the kenwood or the little joystick thing on the right side... that joystick is a little annoying but I LOVE the pause feature for when the phone rings or something like that.

yeah the joystick thing....i always use the supplied remote for everything but volumeand i hate trying to push that thing in to change the display to clock
