THIS IS RIDICULOUS...

Quote :
"Hatland said that Coors rolled through a stop sign a block from his home in Golden and that an officer stopped him in his driveway.

In one breath test, he registered a blood alcohol level of 0.073 percent. In a second, 20 minutes later, he registered 0.088. In Colorado a blood alcohol count of 0.05 results in a driving while impaired charge, while a count of 0.08 results in driving under the influence."

^Yeah, it's old, but this is a new article with new information...

DUI laws are getting out of control. Instead of stepping up enforcement of the people who are being ridiculous (ie DRUNK)

States are increasingly punishing more responsible people even more harshly.

The answer to solving the Drunk Driving problem obviously isn't lowing limits and enacting harsher penalties. Legislatures have continued to lower the limits because it results in higher arrest counts and looks like they are "doing something". But really when the increase in arrests is due to people who are being arrested at these lower limits -- nothing is being done to help solve the problem.

For example those of you who've been arrested - during your 30 day suspension did you drink? No - the last thing you feel like doing is drinking. Was court mandated education/treatment part of your sentence or path to getting your license back? So we educate people to be responsible drivers (scare them into being good DD's - but don't give license back preventing them from helping friends to make the same mistake they did. Good job states....

So Pete Coors, who has been drinking beer for decades, drank one beer and not only did it fluctuate in 20 minutes, but registered above .08???? Still, the .05 thing would be one drink for very light people.

Strange - apparently there DWI and DUI are different. Is that true here too?

^^ my guess would be when they reference "a beer" 30 minutes before leaving, that was his last one.

What do you want next? A test under various conditions with various types of alcohols so each person knows their limit of safety and can get to that edge every time they drink?

Have some responsibility and don't even test the limit.

I got an idea. Don't drive after you've been drinking. You win EVERY TIME!
