So the Reel Big Fish are in concert tomorrow night at the Norva in Norfolk. The show starts at 6pm.I'm just wondering if anyone is going and if so, do you want to ride together and share gas costs. I'll drive -- I'm going anyway; I'm just looking for company on the drive. (I wasn't planning on going alone, but the guy I was supposed to go with had to back out at the last minute.)PM me or post here or whatever. Just let me know! [Edited on July 16, 2006 at 4:27 PM. I figure I'll be leaving around 4ish. MXPX and three other bands I've never heard of are playing. I'm assuming RBF is playing last.Doors open at 6, actually, and in my experience, that'll probably mean 7. So leaving around 4 should be fine.

Great show. Well worth the money and the drive -- even alone. They opened with "Take on Me" and closed with "Beer" and "Sell Out," playing a nice mix from all four of the major label releases. After the played "Beer," Aaron the lead singer turned to the crowd and goes, "What're you gonna do now? We played 'Beer' so you have nothing to yell at us." It was funny. It was an all-around good time.

^Thanks man.I wanted to revive this thread because they released a new album today. Picked it up this morning from Schoolkids. I've only had one listen through so far, but it's just as much fun as their other releases. I'm a fan. Also, July 20, RBF is playing at the Norva in Norfolk. The next night they're playing in Richmond. My girlfriend and I have tickets to the Norva show. I went last year, and it was great. Anyone else gonna go?

their new album is horrible.

I do have to say that I'm digging most of the new songs. They seemed to try a bunch of new stuff musically, and while some of it comes out less than perfect it's still pretty good overall. I liked the last CD better but this one is not bad by any means.

That pretty much sums up my opinion of it. I don't like it nearly as much as some of their other releases, but I do still like it enough to listen to it a hell of a lot for the next few weeks/months. Getting pumped about the show at the Norva though!

I was going to say the original post was from a year ago, they aren't playing at the Norva.... but apparently they are... I guess they play there every July, lol.
7/13/2007 9:34:19 AM
ha...yeah, I made the original post, too. I sure wouldn't mind if they'd play a little closer every once in a while. This will be the eighth time I've seen them, and only three of those times were within a 45-min drive. Gotta say, I'm loving the remakes they did of "Hate You" and especially "Why Do All Girls Think They're Fat?" for the new album. Cover of "Another Day in Paradise" is pretty cool, too.

They are definately playin at the Norva on July 20th, a week from today!...I went last year and will be there again this year. If anyone is looking for a group to tag along with pm me, we have about 5-6 goin up there.I heard Less Than Jake is great in concert also, but I haven't seen them myself. Streetlight Manifesto toured with them last year and was incredible, I went out and got their cd's after that show. Should be a solid show all the way through
