2 years ago we bought an '05 Altima. The standard 30,000 mile service is due soon. I called to get a price on how much that is...$299 for a mini or $419 for the max. They do the followingRotate Tires, check pressure, change engine oil, replace engine air filter, replace cabin filter, change coolant, change AT Fluid, top off other fluids, and do a "multi-point inspection". The $419 service adds flushing the cooling system and the tranny.I could do all of this myself for $50. Would me doing the work screw up my warranty? How about their "Multi-point inspection", does that mean they just look it over with the naked eye and wiggle the suspension parts around, or do they hook the car up to a computer and get some kind of detailed analysis.I checked Edmunds.com maintenance section and they say the 30000 mile service should cost $150 for my area.

it should only have about 6,000 miles left on the warranty anyways. i think the only way the warranty would be voided is if something happened as a result to parts you put in that were not Nissan OEM, ie a spark plug. If the electrode broke and scored the cylinder wall and it wasn't OEM you would likely be screwed.

then reccomended inspections are a cash cow. that's it. unless there are some outstanding TSB's or something that you have a problem with, they usually just wash the car and let it sit.i'd take it somewhere cheaper or replace all of the parts that need replacing and keep the reciepts.
