I had a test this morning at 9:55, however, at some point in the night the power flickered and my alarm never went off. I just happened to wake up to a blinking clock at 10:10 (time on my watch) and managed to make it to my test by 10:30 over 30 min late for a 1 hour 15 min test.I talked to the professor and he said its unfortuante but there is nothing he can do about. I immediatly went to talk to my adviosor Mrs. Townsend. She confirmed that her power flickered to this morning but said that she really doens't have the power to do anything. On a side note Professor Miller from the CSC dept saw me sprinting to my test earlier and asked if i had lost power too.Is their anything i can do about this situation to get additional test time or a make up test. i studied hours for this test and it was all to waste. I got a middle to high B in the class but after this test i'll probably have a low C. Would it be possible to somehow drop the class this late in to a 10week course?[Edited on July 13, 2006 at 11:53 AM. Reason : l]

damn, that really sucksI doubt there's anything you can do except set a cellphone alarm next time

are you really that concerned with your GPA that you would drop a course and retake just to keep a C from hitting your transcript? Or am I missing something here?

Go to the professor's office hours, explain your situation, and then ask that if he/she can help you out if you continue to do well in their class. Most professors may end up dropping or reducing the weight of your (one) bad test.

This is why I have a battery-powered back up alarm. I also set my cell phone.I hate being late.

Were you simply unable to finish the test, or did the prof not let you test at all?

it would be nice if more females posted on this site, but if they are all like ^, i'd rather it stay the way it is

i got to take it but i didn't have time to finsih

Basically it is up to the professor. Maybe if you had your advisor and Dr. Miller e-mail the prof stating that indeed the power did go out, they would be willing to work with you. Good luck.

yeah i have learned to set at least 3 alarms every night, and everytime i forget one on a battery the power always somehow goes out. It sucks bad I know.

At least he let you start the test...I've had profs that wouldn't let latecomers start. Still worth pursuing, though. Keep us updated.

you guys could just learn to have a decent sleeping pattern and/or schedule your classes at appropriate times. except the first semester of college i never had a class that i would miss without an alarm.

^some majors only offer one section of a class each semester, therefore he did not have an option of which time to takeim assuming this was the case

That is why I have like four backup alarms.
