Who gives a shit?
7/10/2006 3:47:40 PM
7/10/2006 3:52:49 PM
they should stick to BBall, i think that's where their resources would be used best
7/10/2006 3:54:29 PM
7/10/2006 3:55:45 PM
Their old chancellor died I think and she was the reason they didn't have football to begin with.
7/10/2006 3:59:32 PM
the 12085 people who demand niner football......and those people probably got confused and thought it was a petition to carry San Fran games locally.[Edited on July 10, 2006 at 4:00 PM. Reason : ^^]
7/10/2006 3:59:56 PM
I smell a blood feud with ECU
7/10/2006 4:48:35 PM
if they did get a program, it would be another d-1 school we would have to fight with for in-state recruits
7/10/2006 4:51:18 PM
it would take UNCC at least 10 years to get up to par with even ECU.
7/10/2006 4:52:44 PM
i seriously doubt they would be D1
7/10/2006 4:53:28 PM
how many students go to uncc?
7/10/2006 4:54:28 PM
Yeah, they'd have to be 1-AA, at least for a start
7/10/2006 5:00:54 PM
^^ 20,700+ were enrolled in 2005
7/10/2006 5:17:22 PM
7/10/2006 5:22:58 PM
oh no, not another in-state school we could lose to
7/10/2006 9:32:44 PM
not gonna happen any time sooni have been hearing this same story since my sister went to Charlotte in 2001
7/11/2006 11:49:57 AM
From what I hear there are a couple fraternities there that make good money off selling "Charlotte 49er Football - Never Defeated" T-shirts.The area where their track is at on campus (right next to the basketball arena) can easily be converted to a I-AA football field. And that would be about the distance from Bragaw to the Atrium for students from the student dorms.[Edited on July 11, 2006 at 12:19 PM. Reason : .]
7/11/2006 12:19:13 PM
that would be tight they need to recruit from south florida, like miami and shit and they will be top notch in like 2 years
7/11/2006 12:28:12 PM
i think the determining factor will be money (the demanders have already started pledging money and season tickets, so they are taking steps in the right direction)the university will have to acquire some serious cash to build a stadium, hire a coach, and set up the rest of the facilities
7/11/2006 1:10:28 PM
^not to mention the title IX requirements they'll have to fulfill....
7/11/2006 1:19:29 PM
i hope they get a team, that would be cool
7/11/2006 1:31:57 PM
i thought judy rose's nephew was killed playing football?
7/11/2006 5:52:15 PM

7/11/2006 11:37:58 PM
If Campbell can acquire a football team then the door is wide open. I'd love to see it. Would be great to see them against teams like App, ETSU, and Western.
7/11/2006 11:53:29 PM
i think the whole Title IX thing is stupid. i'm all for equality by the way.

7/12/2006 9:44:32 AM
Charlotte produces a bunch of quality football talent, i know tenn and florida recruit out of the charlotte area
7/12/2006 9:59:46 AM
yeah, Charlotte Independence is like the Notre Dame/USC of NC high school football.
7/12/2006 2:19:39 PM
thomasville high school football 2 championships in 2 years. I think 3 in 5 years. 2 back to back women's basketball championships the past 2 years. 3 in the last 4 years and 4 men's basketball championships in the last 6 years or something like that...who cares if we are 1-A..we can take anyone.ps. just won our first soccer championship this past year as well.http://www.tcs.k12.nc.us/86111510181211/site/default.asp[Edited on July 12, 2006 at 2:56 PM. 7/12/2006 2:53:25 PM
seriously dude, I wouldn't repeat all of that.
7/12/2006 3:35:21 PM
I wanna brag about my middle school....
7/12/2006 3:44:34 PM
if you knew how small of a town/school it is, you would be very impressed
7/12/2006 4:46:44 PM
^Thomasville is not that little. Asheboro is the same size and their school is 4-A. Plus how many D-1 players has Tville produced in either men's bball or football?Brandon Setzer is like the school's all-time best player and he plays for ECU.

i played against chris paul and pj tucker when they played for the carolina hornets... diiirty.
7/13/2006 11:55:53 AM
i would love to see a team at UNCC...although i think they would probably have to get out of the A-10....go back to C-USA or try and join the Big EastIf UNCC had a football team when I was thinking about where I was gonna go....I wouldve gone there...but alas I am a packman for life now

7/13/2006 1:49:12 PM
7/13/2006 2:26:32 PM
i think charlotte would get a lot more credit as being a big schooli don't think many people know that 20k+ go there because they assume that no football program means a smaller school
7/13/2006 2:34:19 PM
listen everybody, UNCC can't field a football team right now because the market, Charlotte, can't support another team. They've looked at the numbers, from what i understand, and they just don't add up yet, even with all this "alumni support"Charlotte hasn't even proven that it can *financially* support two pro teams yet, plus they have minor league baseball and hockey there too. The entire decision is based on money, and there's not enough corporate/alumni support for UNCC to be able to pay for a team yet (85 schollies for the men, plus 85 for equivalent number of women, right?)
7/13/2006 2:50:47 PM
1. the people that go to nc state games aren't all from raleigh, so charlotte as a city does not need to support the football program as long as there is enough alumni support2. the number of pro teams in the area doesn't affect who goes to the football games. when was the last time that you decided not to go to a wolfpack game because the hurricanes, bulls, tarheels, dukies, or whoever played?3. the whole point of posting the links from above is to show that more and more alumni are already pledging money for a football program. Apparently there are a lot of charlotte alumni in the charlotte area, and they want a football team.

7/13/2006 3:06:07 PM
^ i don't think it works that wayi think title IX does quality to quality, not quantity to quantity (if they build a nice football stadium, they couldn't have the girls play soccer on some dirt track at a middle school)
7/13/2006 3:18:50 PM
how much money do you think they need to start a football program? their alumni can't provide that much money and there's not enough corporate money in the town either.from what I understand about their situation, that's whats keeping them out of football. Of course the alumni want it....but thats not enough...and btw, to clarify title IX, this is from a dept of education report from 1997:
7/13/2006 3:25:05 PM
7/13/2006 3:56:19 PM
bringing in a college football program can run near $20 mil... from what ive heard. possibly more depending on facilities etc.
