My roomate and I went and looked at the Avery Close townhomes today. We liked the layout and everything about the apartment itself alot and was pretty much sold on signing a lease there this week. Then I read some pretty poor reviews of the place (mostly dealing with management) which got me a little worried. Anyone have any experience with them (please no "i had a friend who's friend lived there" stuff)? It just seems most people won't review a place unless they hated it or loved it 100%.

you're right about the reviews...that said, I don't like the townhomes mainly because of their poor construction and the dilapidated state. The maintenance crew sucks, apparently.

^^Do you like curry? Because Avent Ferry, especially Avery Close is the Little India of the NCSU area.

...and Indians only eat curry.

I live here right now, but we are privately owned. The only time we go to the office is when we absolutely HAVE to go up there.. There are 4 women who regularly work the office and only one of them is somewhat nice..

i have friends that live there and love it, but i mean, it's not the nicest place around.

I never had any problems with the maintenance crew there. However, most of the townhomes are individually owned so your experience will vary. Any time I put in a work request it was fixed the next day so I can't complain. The place I moved into was completely repainted and recarpeted so it didn't seem old at all.

Yeah they are privately owned units, the experience with management is going to vary based on the owner or management company.

A buddy of mine used to live there, and I'd occasilly give him rides back to his place after we hung out - it literally smelled like curry. I don't know if there was some party or everyone was cooking with their windows open, but I'm not ONLY making a racial slur here.

what kind of curry?

Thanks for the resonses. It seems it wouldn't be as bad as some make it out to be. I'm going to call tommorow and see if they will let me see the exact apartment we are looking at or at least talk to the people living there. Any other info about this place would be nice too.

I still can't understand why so many people on here whine and complain about the allegedly rude staff at Wilson Properties. My apt was managed by them for close to a year and I NEVER had any problems with anyone there. My roomate and I got to know the staff fairly well and they were always polite and helpful. If you have ongoing problems with them, its more than likely your own fault. Learn to be patient, say please and thank you and you will be treated much better by your property managers.edit: FYI, I live in Champion Court, not Avery Close, but my place was managed by Wilson Properties for a while.[Edited on July 10, 2006 at 12:18 AM. Well aparently managment is being very nice to me right now. I called this morning and asked if there is anyway I could possibly see the actual apt. we are looking at rather than one that is just like it, so we know what to expect before we sign any leases. They said, we generally do not like to do that while the tenant is still staying there (I guess I'm that asshole), but since you are ready to sign the lease and this is the only thing holding your back, we think we can work something out. They called me back about 15 minutes later to tell me Wed at 5:45 they could do it since that is the earliest I can get back from work. So, so far so good, just hope it stays this way and the place is actually nice.
