I usually don't even worry about the periodic updates for Windows, but last night I decided to install them just for the heck of it. After the updates were installed, all of a sudden my sound became really low. Right now my speakers are on full blast but I can barely hear anything.

I would have reinstalled the Soundblaster Live! program, but my installation disk is all the way back in Raleigh (currently in Atlanta for the summer). Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

At the risk of insulting your intelligence, did you check all the faders in the sound control panel? Also, you can certainly find the drivers you need online.

Insult away, I don't claim to be a computer aficionado.

double click the speaker in the lower right hand corner of the screen and see if the sliders are all the way at the top.
