So me and the gf are looking to camp somewhere at the beach near whalebone (because of its proximity to roanoke island and the lost colony production). If anyone is from the area or knows a lot about a good site that fits the previous description and is close to a place with some sort of night life I'd appreciate it.

It's been my experience that they only allow camping in the most secluded areas. I've always camped at Hatteras National Seashore and that's not exacly close to any nightlife venues. There might be a place down there that allows camping though, I've never really looked.

joe & kay's campground in colington
or
oregon inlet campground

those would be the closest to manteo that i can think of...most of the rest are south of the inlet which would be too far for you

manteo has a pretty good amount of restaurants and most are bars as well, BUT manteo doesnt serve liquor...except for hurricane mo's at pirates cove....the nightlife in manteo is pretty much non-existant.

btw, manteo IS roanoke island and that is where the lost colony is...didnt know if that was clear

i wouldnt reccommend staying at oregon inlet if you want nightlife...i think colington would be your best bet... its very close to good restaurants/bars and about 20 mins from manteo

Well, it'll be awhile...I meant get back from Japan, not just from work or something. We're going mid-August.
