according to these guys.http://ultimate-guitar.com/news/general_music_news/led_zeppelin_top_band_of_all_time.htmldiscuss.

speaking in guitar skill; possibly. they were an amazing band, had a huge fan base, huge impact on music, and amazing talent.... the best? i'd have to sleep on it but they are damn close. I think those guys judge the best bands like the rock n roll hall of fame does. Based on creativity, impact on music as a whole, and fan base/albums

no way, if we're talking about influences, Beatles have to be #1. Almost every successful band lists them as an influence and any band that doesn't probably was influenced by a band that was. They were pretty much the start of rock and roll.btw... nothing against Led Zeppelin, I think they're good
6/29/2006 8:44:29 PM
6/29/2006 8:50:22 PM
beatles sucked imo...flame away
6/29/2006 8:51:37 PM
^ yeah, but even if you hate them, you have to admit they were the largest influence
6/29/2006 8:53:46 PM
U2 in the top 10 totally discredits that list.on the expanded list, they rank ac/dc below U2 for technical ability. that is absolutely ridiculous.a[Edited on June 29, 2006 at 8:56 PM. Reason : asdf]

Pink floyd was better than Zeppelin
6/29/2006 8:56:18 PM
^^ Asshole, why do you go around posting things mere moments before I try posting them?
6/29/2006 8:56:47 PM
RHCP having a consistency of 29 is pretty stupid too if you ask me, they are one of most consistent bands of the past 20 yearsand the black eyed peas making the list at all is way worse than u2 being in the top ten[Edited on June 29, 2006 at 9:05 PM. Reason : fhds]

I love the Beatles, but there's no way in hell they were the start of rock 'n' roll.Chuck Berry is the start of guitar-based rock 'n' roll. Period.
6/29/2006 9:09:28 PM
lists like this are meant for people with very little musical knowledgei mean, the eagles, honestly
6/29/2006 9:09:31 PM
LETS DEBATE SOMETHING THAT CANNOT BE DETERMINED

the beatles had a HUGE influence but not as widespread as we think. They are entirely different generation...today they are hugely influential but when they were in their prime the music wasn't as influential to their era as zepplelin was to theirs.i will admit though- i never though about the beatles.i would not say Zepelin was "the best" because i don't think it is possible to pick a best- to many factors

I love Zeppelin, I'm a huge classic rock fan, but as far as musical talent-they're good, but not the best of all time.
6/29/2006 10:47:16 PM
Let's not forget that they were perpetually drunk.Jimmy Page played on thousands of recordings all through the '60s. There was no better guitar player in England...not Clapton, not Beck.Keith Moon was a better drummer than Bonzo, but Bonzo was pretty damn good.Zep is a damn good band, just nowhere near the best of all time.
6/30/2006 12:49:37 AM
then who is near the best of all time?
6/30/2006 12:54:51 AM

SisterDaydream NationEVOL
6/30/2006 2:53:07 AM
for someone who has never listened to them before I would recomend Dirty or Goo first because they are for the the most part the easiest to listen to. Then work up through the 90's and 00's and then go for their 80's stuff.
6/30/2006 11:07:09 AM
6/30/2006 11:30:34 AM
6/30/2006 11:33:03 AM
yeah, but u2 isn't skilled.ac/dc can, for instance, manage a guitar solo.
6/30/2006 11:39:58 AM
the Stooges totally skull fuck Led Zeppelin and so does Jeff Beck for that matter.
6/30/2006 11:40:20 AM
^^ You're right. I don't think Kansas is better than Led Zeppelin.
6/30/2006 11:40:33 AM
I also cannot take seriously a list that doesn't have the clash, ramones, or who in the top 10
6/30/2006 11:41:30 AM
well a big factor is sales, so the clash and the ramones are out. yeah, the who is a bit of a surprise for me too.
6/30/2006 11:43:40 AM
Zep is definitely the greatest rock band of all time.I'd say my top three are ZepStonesBeatles
6/30/2006 1:28:00 PM
im calling shananagins on this whole thread
6/30/2006 1:38:24 PM
Led Zeppelin might possibly be the most influential band. The Beatles 2nd the them (by the way I can't stand the Beatles, however, they were influential). But what I wanna know is WHERE THE FUCK IS BLACK SABBATH?
6/30/2006 2:01:32 PM
i agree with the list except for van halen and U2they're both rated to high
6/30/2006 2:51:41 PM
Here's another, maybe not a top ten, but definitely influential: Black Flag
