So i think we have sold the awesome plymouth breeze that my G/F had so she is looking for a new car now. We've been looking a lot but her credit sucks. not necessarily sucks, she just doesn't have any credit except for old ass medical bills (charged off). So we went to Hendrick Chevrolet in Durham which apparently goes through like 40 banks and is great at getting people with shit credit financed and they could. Her sister who makes good money and has decent credit is going to cosign...in short- What are some dealerships you know of that work with people who have sketchy credit? I don't want her to get a Chevy- i would kind of like to find her an 05 cert. preowned civic, scion, lancer, something small and good on gas along those lines. any help is appreciated...

if you want certified, you need to go to the respective dealerfor example, a certified toyota would come from wait for ita toyota dealer

i understand that- however the toyota site has 6 different certified dealerships listed. It doesn't necessarily have to be cert.pre.own. it would just be nice. I guess my real question is: hendrick chevy in durham has much more flexible credit requirements and financing option than the one over in cary auto mall. all the dealerships have different policies...are there any other dealers anyone knows of that are a bit more flexible. I know Jeep in auto mall is one

If she has a cosigner with good credit I don't think it will matter what her credit is like.
6/28/2006 10:43:58 PM
really? do they havea decent inventory? how do ya feal about th Lancer OZ ? i know their good on gas but only like 120 hp- good first "real" car for the girl right?
6/28/2006 10:44:51 PM
^^well the cosigner doesn't have "good" credit by a stretch. She has like a 600 beacon i think but makes $50,000 a year-[Edited on June 28, 2006 at 10:47 PM. Reason : sorry for double post]

Your best bet is to not work with a dealer for financing, at least until she is approved from one normal bank. With a cosigner this shouldn't be a problem. If the dealership knows she is worried about her credit, she probably won't get as good of an interest rate. When I bought my car, the dealer offered me financing for 6.5%. All I said was "my bank approved me for 6.25%" and a minute later he was able to offer me 5.7%. It is one of their negotiating tools. As long as your gf's credit is just weak and not negative, her sister's credit will carry the deal. When I was shopping around, I had several salesmen tell me that a lot of people don't qualify for the SECU rate that I told them I was counting on, so I went ahead and pre-qualified. She should go with her sister to whomever they normally bank with, then buy from whatever dealer she wants.

Considering I work in a special finance department I will chime in. From the sounds of it, its something that would do you no good to goto a bank. We aren't talking about rates in the single digits here. From my experience from being in the business awhile, most dealerships do some sort of special financing but there are only 3-4 in the area that do it on a constant level and attempt to seek out the business on a large level. Hendrick Chevrolet is ok but not outstanding at it. If you have mroe questions or would actually like me to take a look at the situation PM me and let me know.

well her sisters credit was a 600 before she bought a new magnum last year so i am guessing it has gotten better over the last 12 months. If she were to have that cosigner would a bank still not finance her?

(non-evo) lancer

Wait is 600 the gf or the cosigner

Dealership Anti-Recommendation: Mike Johnson's Toyota in Hickory, NCMy parents just bought a new Yaris from them yesterday. It's a nice car, except one of the tires went flat on the way home. They called up the dealership today and the dealership says it's going to cost them approx. $120. That's total B.S. My mom called me and asked for advice. I told her to tell them "bull shit" (she can't speak english well so it would be awesome if she does say it). We'll see how things turn out. I tried talking to the manager over the phone but he didn't help. I'm going to go there this weekend and talk to the owner. Definately going to make sure my mom gets a FREE brand new tire.

600 is cosigner- i know i know. but like i said the 600 was before she financed a brand new magnum that she has made payments on for over a year and she also got married a year ago so it should be better now than it was

^^^^ unless the warranty specifically says it covers flat tires that aren't a result of poor craftsmanship or materials, I fail to see why the dealer is obligated to pay for an accident your mom had. it's like going to mcdonalds, buying a bunch of food, and then dropping it on the floor, mcdonalds isnt just going to give you new food because you fucked up[Edited on June 29, 2006 at 2:56 PM.
