Stockhausen has a really good hand cleaner...called StokoMat or something like that. It's about 20 dolla for a refill for the handpump dispenser, but the shit works well.

I prefer GoJo most of the time. One thing I have found out, though...it pays to not let your hands get dirty to begin with. Repeated washing, no matter how good your hand cleaner is, dries out and cracks your hands, espcially in the winter.

So I wear latex gloves, and I wash my hands with regular bar soap unless the situation warrants using something else.

For fieldwork where i don't have any running water, I use GoJo without pumice, and I wipe my hands clean with a good towel.

I have a bunch of Permatex Orange with Pumice, but I don't use it often, as it dries out my hands.

it depends. i used to wear latex gloves for a long ass time, and i would get cut easier. the gloves make your hands sweat, and that will soften your skin, and you can get cut easier (if you dont some rough shit). ive noticed a huge different now that i dont use gloves that often (unless its messing with heavy grease, or brakes and shit). i will sacrafice some dirt and grime and use some handcleaner, which works perfect.

not sure about all these diseases and cancers you can get from automotive fluids and what not, but ive probably already got them.

fast orange... gojo they both work well for me... but so does the scrub brush i have in the shower and it doesn't crack the hands like that stuff

don't get me wrong i still use it for big messes... i actually like my mechanix gloves the best cause i'm always getting bloody knuckles anyway.

i had a ton back when dad and i helped on a bush crew and they used to give us dozens for free but i think i've ripped through most of them.

Yeah, I have been in a hurry bofore and just washed my hands in the parts cleaner/ solvent tank. That stuff cannot be good for one's skin.

Definately agree that latex gloves make your hands more apt to be cut. Fast orange works pretty good. Just use a fingernail brush and an old washcloth to scrub the heavy stuff off.

gas or carb cleaner does take stuff right off. but the toluene and other carcinogens prolly arn't great.

Most parts washers use Stoddard solvent (mineral spirits) as a cleaning solvent. The most it usually does is give you a nice case of dermatitis, as it dries the hell outta your skin.

Of course, the cheapest Stoddard solvent also contains traces of benzene (known carcinogen).
