Now now you dirty minded bastards... I'm serious. My girlfriend has never flown in an airplane. Her Birthday is July 19th and I'm hoping to find a good place to take her for her first flight. She's always wanted to go. She does not scare easy, and would enjoy someone who would take her up in a small aircraft and let her fly a bit and maybe do some up down's to jostle her stomach hehe. Something exciting. If you know of good place near Raleigh, NC that will do such a ride I would appreciate it. Also if you know costs that would be good too. You can respond here or email me at ChadStinner@nc.rr.com. Thanks!

How much are you willing to pay?? I've got a friend who could do this...but he's living in Whiteville right now. But flying to Raleigh is nothing for him.

Alot of small airports with flight schools will take people up in 'demo flights,' basically where they take you up in a small plane, let you take control for a little bit (no stunts or anything) and then land...they do it for aspiring pilot students but pretty much anybody can do it. I had one bought for me for Christmas a few years ago but the day I went up to use it it was too windy to fly and it's since expired...but I'm sure they still do it. Mine was for Franklin County Airport out in Louisburg but I'd bet some other small airports have places that do it too. You could probably just call the airport and they'll point you in the right direction.Edit: Mine at the time cost $20 or so but I think my mom got a good deal on that...probably closer to $50 or $100 by now. I know Johnston county airport has a flight school, I'm sure they offer that kind of thing, though I know its like 110/hr to rent the plane if you have a license, so it might cost more then that with a pilot...

doesn't CarZin have a plane and a license? You might want to contact him

He does, indeed. Also try WCH777 if/when he's in the area (Although he is in GA now). He usually has access to a couple more interesting aircraft.I'd try getting in with them when they're planning on flying anyway.[Edited on June 24, 2006 at 5:27 PM. Reason : .]

That's what I'm looking for. Local places and maybe even someone from here. Anyone that has a license isn't a fucking retard, and knows their stuff. The fact that you took the time that it takes means it's a serious endevor... it's not like a drivers license. I know there is a pilot program at RDU but I was seeing about smaller airports in the area first.
6/24/2006 5:43:21 PM
I *almost* got my pilots license when I was in high school. I did most of my lessons from RDU. It was a total rush getting to be in a tiny airplane, talking to the tower, and taxi-ing around all these big jumbo jets. I got up to the point to where I had my solo student license, and could fly around locally by myself, but I never did the bookwork and tests ]

CarZin has a pretty bitchin' plane and knows his shit.I was gonna let him take my son and I up for his first plane ride, but my son who LOVES planes, simply refused to get in it. He cried even if I got in it. So no plane rides that day!

Raige usually makes some dumb posts, but this actually is not a bad idea as a gift for someone, especially if they have never flown in a plane.
6/25/2006 12:46:39 AM
^ gee thanks. No luck so far finding a place that will do the ride. Google has failed me!
6/25/2006 2:11:17 AM

6/25/2006 8:45:26 AM
^^ Have you read any of the posts in here? I'm basically 100% certain that http://www.empire-aviation.com/ will do it. Luck isn't involved, reading is.

^ wtf is that. Sounds like you have pretty shitty relationships. I also don't just assume every guy my woman is around puts her in a compromising position. She can take care of herself.
6/26/2006 12:49:37 AM
i did it in high-school..it was a gift from my parents, so i don't know too much about it, but i think it was in fuquay
6/26/2006 1:41:02 AM
Um okay dude its your girl not mine.... girls are attracted to guys that can do cool things like fly planes.if that guy has any game whatsoever he'll at least get her thinking, if not acting

"So if this is your first time in a plane, guess you haven't made it into the mile high club yet. Let me give you an introduction....(slurping/choking sounds as your girl gives him oral at 7000 feet)"
6/26/2006 8:12:13 PM
Yeah, but is the mile high club measured in MSL or AGL?
7/4/2006 1:10:16 PM
do you consider the entire city of denver to be in the mile high club?
7/4/2006 1:22:42 PM
7/4/2006 1:46:10 PM
No, but the entire city of Denver isn´t in an aircraft at the time. What are the exact rules?Hey, you`re the Chad Stinner that used to live in Turlington, aren´t you?[Edited on July 4, 2006 at 2:46 PM. Reason : .]
7/4/2006 2:45:07 PM
well the point of the post was that the rule has to be AGL[Edited on July 4, 2006 at 3:42 PM. Reason : .]

knightdale has a small craft airport that will take you on joy rides and let you fly a bit..... they have a 3 seater plane as well, so you can sit in the back and watch her freak out
7/4/2006 3:51:24 PM
MAKE SURE THE PILOT YOU PAY HAS A COMMERCIAL LICENSE.IF ANYTHING HAPPENS AND HE DOES NOT HAVE THAT INSURANCE WILL PAY NOTHING.
7/4/2006 5:33:15 PM
Have you considered a "Discovery Flight?" Most flight schools offer them to introduce people to general aviation. It's best to have a certified flight instructor do the discovery flight because they're trained in recovering from accelerated stalls and spins -- things that inexperienced pilots inadvertently get into (I did it once in a Cessna 152 practicing stalls). I got my flight training in Florida where there's a flight school and an air strip on every corner. Discovery flights would usually run $49.
