I have a traffic ticket court appearance tomorrow? If I want to change the date, is it too late? Please advise...

You'll be straight. I went the day after and got it postponed without a penalty. Don't wait more than a day after tho.

Speaking of court, I got a thing for Jury Duty on July 27th, and I'm candidate #152 and I don't want to go wait there all day for that BS. Even though I won't be in school and I'll be done with Summer Session, do you think I can still pull the I'm-in-school bit on them?

Coyly ask the lawyer to expound on the privilege of jury nullification and they'll let you go.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jury_nullification [words]

A jury can refuse to do what the judge says (rule a fair verdict on your peer based on evidence).

Show up for court and ask the DA for a continuance... worse case he says no.

^^A better explanation is that you can render a not guilty verdict simply because you believe the law to be unjust. It's like a community's last line of defense against bullshit laws or situations where they think a pardon is deserved. It was the hot stuff back when you wanted to get off after a lynching, but these days judges hate that shit.

Just go in and get dismissed.

You could render a NG verdict because you don't like the law, but that is basis for a new trial/and or appeal. You will just waste your own time and taxpayers money.

just go in and ask for a continuance. You most likely will have to do it in person. Or hire a lawyer and let them handle it.
