This is for a brochure...I'd like legitimate ideas as I know some people have done cool things for cheap.

I suppose for under $100 you could go to the beach for a day.

i saw a book in that little bookshop behind tripp's on wade about weekend/day trips in NC...you might check that book out for ideas

^on that note...CSS Neuse in Kinston, Tryon Palace in New Bern, Wilmington--esp the downtown part and take the historic carriage ride (i found it interesting), any of the forts along the coast line, the zoo in asheboro, any of the aquariums (i think the one at atlantic just finished getting remodeled...or was that a different one?), i like the shopping in boone and asheville

Wow, you can drive down 40 for 2 hours each way and go to Wrigtsville for the day, I do it all the time. Parking's a bitch, and I guess gas is, too but it's maybe like $40ish total? I can get down there and back on a little less than a tank of gas. I think parking is maybe like $2.75 an hour.

There's tons of stuff!! Go to the Zoo in Asheboro (day), go to Old Salem (day), go to Carowinds (well, that can be pricey, even for only one day, but there's discoutned coupons everywhere), go to Emerald Pointe, go to Grandfather Mountain (actually v. expensive) and Blowing Rock, Raven Rock State Park, camp for the weekend at Falls Lake (verrrry cheap), Sanford-Pittsboro area for pottery, Devil's Tramping Ground, Duke Homestead, Golf in Pinehurst, Duke Primate Center, Duke Gardens, NC Botanical Gardens in CH, Nasher Museum, etc.

Those are just some ideas, of course. Depends how much you want to do, and how upscale you want it to be.

parking is $1.50/hour, but you can park just before the last bridge on us-74 on the side of the road for free, you just have to walk a bit

I second this. The aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores (near Atlantic Beach) has just been finished after having been closed for several years. I just got my NC Aquariums membership in the mail this week...a present from a friend's mom for some car work I did for her.

All of the forts are really cool. My wife and I went to Fort Macon for a day back at the beginning of last year and had a really good time checking it all out.

The USS North Carolina in Wilmington is really cool too.

I tend to be a history geek like that.

You can go and camp on the down on Carolina Beach, we went over easter break for several days. It was like 15 bucks a day or something like that to do it.
