yeah, metallica is prob the worst case of a great band going downhilli also strongly prefer older RHCPBen Folds Five got progressively worse with each albumthe first two Alice in Chains albums are definitely the bestPearl Jam's best effort was their debut, and they kinda lost their way after the 2nd albumStone Temple Pilots' finest hour was their debut...the 2nd and 3rd albums aren't as good (debately which is better between those two, but probably the 2nd). after that, they started screwing things upVan Halen>Van HagarAppetite For Destruction is the best GNR album, although they were on top of their game through the Use Your Illusion albums
6/21/2006 11:20:39 PM
i disagree about ben folds five completely. their second album was their strongest IMO and i think their first and third are close
6/21/2006 11:24:32 PM
the 2nd album has some of the best songsbut the 1st album is easily better on the whole. there are some really weak songs on the 2nd album, but not on the first (and there are several really strong songs on the first album)[Edited on June 21, 2006 at 11:30 PM. Reason : asdfasd]
6/21/2006 11:26:21 PM
ahahaas soon as i saw this thread i thought, "weezer, duh"
6/21/2006 11:27:54 PM
yeah i made this thread out of built up frustration from over one of my favorite band of all time, or at least my favorite band after the first two albums of all time
6/21/2006 11:36:19 PM
Pearl Jam should be number oneFollowed by MetallicaFollowed by DMB

some will argue that they were never good in the first place. but i went from loving OAR do downright loathing them over a period of time.
6/22/2006 10:14:03 AM
i agree with all the above mentioned, and i add:guns and rosesrage against the machinethe smashing pumpkinsincubusjump, little childred
6/22/2006 10:20:27 AM
disco biscuits

6/22/2006 10:40:52 AM
i think weezer, metallica, and pearl jam are the three most obvious.of course some people like what the band has become (see above post), but i think in general, most would agree they have gotten progressively worse as the years have gone by.
6/22/2006 10:45:33 AM
second on incubusscience was definitely best...i didn't think the next two sucked per se...but science was definitely besta crow left of the murder was just horrible...i think i listened to it the first day i bought it and then enver listened to it again.
6/22/2006 11:12:35 AM
i'm gonna pre-emptively say arcade fire.
6/22/2006 11:20:25 AM
^i'm tempted to agree with you. the cold wind single was underwhelming, and it'll be nigh impossible to top Funeral.
6/22/2006 11:31:37 AM
I like make yourself so much more than S.C.I.E.N.C.Ebut yeah, Weezer was just so damn good and now they're just so damn shitty. I would NEVER have thought that could happen after those first two albums
6/22/2006 11:35:46 AM
I was thinking Greenday with Weezer a close second.
6/22/2006 11:42:45 AM
Speaking of Metallica, has anyone heard their new song? They've played it live a few times in Europe the last few weeks. There are some videos on youtube of it, but none of them are great quality.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-crxUFvZWso&search=Metallica%20new%20songFrom what I can hear, it doesn't sound too bad
6/22/2006 12:01:23 PM
^people have said that before every new metallica album
6/22/2006 12:07:44 PM
the get up kids.Rolling Stones.underoath for sure.
6/22/2006 12:11:18 PM
I was gonna say the pumpkins, but they peaked during the middle of their career and fell off with the later stuff. not a steady decline really.
6/22/2006 12:11:20 PM
radiohead lollers
6/22/2006 12:17:02 PM
no, they fall under the "bands who have gotten progressively better" category
6/22/2006 12:18:28 PM

6/22/2006 1:02:24 PM
yeah, good call on Clapton
6/22/2006 1:03:38 PM
6/22/2006 1:12:20 PM
a lot of these also fall under the topic "bands who were so good early on, they can do whatever the fuck they want and people still love them for it."
6/22/2006 1:19:33 PM
usually when that happens for me, it goes in the "bands that got progressively better" thread. (for instance radiohead, wilco, or bob dylan throughout the sixties).
6/22/2006 1:20:57 PM
6/22/2006 1:24:46 PM
def gotta go with DMB. After Busted Stuff....DOWNHILL

6/22/2006 1:36:57 PM
Weezer definitely went down hill. ...and well Hopesfall, their not even the same band, and that band does suck now.I've been listening to the RHCP FORever, and I personally think they get better with every album.
6/22/2006 1:41:54 PM
