Really sucks that a guy like that died the way he did, just two days after being drafted. They showed Reynolds Coliseum on ESPN when mentioning him, or at least it looked that way. It was right when they said "his death was felt from Maryland all the way to Massachusetts." The ACC was looking like the All Cocaine Conference during those years.[Edited on June 19, 2006 at 6:34 PM. Reason : ]

Len Bias may have been the best ACC player ever.....he and DT gotta be in the top 3.
6/19/2006 6:51:32 PM
Coach K put Bias and Jordan in the top 2 in the interview they just had on ESPN.
6/19/2006 6:53:26 PM
I'd put Alan Kulwicki and Drazen Petrovic in the top-3 with Len Biasand Thurmon Munson a close 4th
6/19/2006 6:55:29 PM
john crotty and of course jeremy hyatt and x-rey hipp

so im working basketball camps for a few months here this summer with a ministry that DT is a part of...soo...basically i shoot hoops with him all day....the guy can still get up and he can absolutely shoot the lights out
6/19/2006 7:51:46 PM
Bias was good, but he was no DT. Hell, no one was, really
6/19/2006 7:56:25 PM
yeah...i dont know a whole lot about bias...his old highlight tapes are sick but im sure that doesnt tell the whole story...my folks were at State in 74 so of course they rant and rave about DT...but they both say that Bias was the only other player of DT's caliber....and they both say that jordan was nowhere close
6/19/2006 7:59:43 PM
Jordan was always Jordan, his team was just so good and Dean Smiff didn't want any one player to steal the limelight. The old saying was "Only Dean Smith can stop Michael Jordan". I still don't think he was DT at the time, but he was pretty good. Smith's greatest player was supposedly ford.

considering that coach K has said in two separate interviews that the Maryland NC State 74' ACC championship game was the greatest college basketball game every played, I'd think he understands the caliper of player that David Thompson was.

I remember seeing that shit on espn.. It was one of the first things I ever remember seeing on the "crawler". I came home from school and was like wtf..

The play where Bias steals the ball and dunks it backwards at UNC.......all in one motion, might be the best play a single player has ever made. The man would have been a superstar in the NBA.

http://espn.go.com/you can watch the video i was talking about on the ESPN motion sidebar on the front page. if you notice a little bit after the half way mark they start to talk about how his death was felt from Maryland to Massachusetts, but instead of showing Cole Field House or some other part of College Park, they show Reynolds Coliseum. weird.
