I need a banner designed in the next couple of days. It's very simple, just some text and a couple of pictures which i already have. The problem i'm having is that i'm not that familiar with photoshop and similar programs and the file is huge. The banner needs to be about 12' long and 34" wide. Send me a PM if you think you could do it and how much you would want and I'll give you the details. I essentially have the design of it done; font, colors, and layout. I just keep running into problems actually making the thing. I don't think it would take more than 20-30 minutes for someone that knows what they're doing.

12' by 36' (almost 3') is going to be on the order of 300-600megabytes in size for photo-esque quality. That's an entire CD. So yes its going to be HUGE. And you are going to need a hoss of a computer to even work on it.

^ yeah the file comes out to be over a gig. And my computer is not really cut out for working on it, so it makes it a major pain in the ass on top of not being very proficient with photoshop. If my machine could handle it better I could probably dick around with it enough to do what I want. But load times are rediculous and I had a few lockups. Tried doing it on campus, the machines had a better go at it but there wasn't enough storage space.

Trying to make a 300dpi banner that large that is all raster is going to result in a huge file like Noen said. Sounds like a job for a vector graphics program, something like Corel or Illustrator. You can mix text and imported graphics on the same page in those programs. -- Dave

im pretty sure photoshop is an actual sign design program

No, flexi, casmate, Lxi ect... are sign making programs. photoshop is not really meant for that, which is why he is having trouble.

^^^ the reason I said photoshop is because the machine that is hooked up to the printer has photoshop. And I have access to photoshop. I do not have access to those programs from what I know. And even if i did they would only really be useful if i were able to open the file in photoshop, or another program that is on the pc so that i can print it. I will look into those programs though, thanks for mentioning them.
