My friend has a 1999 Jeep Cherokee 2.5L 4 cyl auto. She lives in Boone and it overheats when driving up long hills (I figured it was not the thermostat or busted radiator). Never overheats on start up or still traffic. Any ideas. Thanks in advance.

^ My brother recommends the same. (The message boards.)On the other hand, since I don't know much (anything) about the 4cyl, does that one have a secondary electric cooling fan like the 6cyl? And, if so, is it dead? [Edited on June 18, 2006 at 9:02 PM. Reason : clarification]

is it running hotter all the time or not....or is it normal except when going up hills

it has a secondary fan, and it only goes hot when going uphill

there is something preventing the coolant from getting to the radiator when it is going up hillis it low on coolant? check the hoseshow many miles and has the water pump been replacedit has to be something with the water pump

check the radiator and the waterpump, and you might as well put in a new thermostat if you end up changing the waterpump
