So i am a vegetarian, but having said this i basically dont eat anything you had to kill the animal to get. Meaning no fish, beef, pork, chicken... and the like.I do eat eggs and milk.Now... I have read that protein in plants when you start to weight lift isnt as good for you as animal meat. Because of there incompleteness. I wonder how does milk, eggs, and soy match up when it comes to substituting those against meat proteins? Would it be fair to say i can look up recomendations for meat eaters and count it 1 to 1 if i drink milk, soy, or eggs?Any good websites on this would be helpful, but that is the main question i am trying to figure out. Thanks

what about whey protein?? that comes from milk and is a better protein supplement than soy at least.
6/14/2006 6:48:45 AM
You can mix grains, veggies, and legumes to build complete proteins. This is how societies survive on beans and rice when meat's not eaten, either out of lifestyle choice or animal scarcity.http://www.bodyforlife2.com/incompletprotein.htm^ That site shows how to build complete proteins from non-meat food sources.

I can't believe you eat baby chickens and starve baby cows. Baby killer!
6/14/2006 7:38:19 AM
Yeah, that's really low, drinking the creamy liquid baby cows.Screw the chickens though, they're retarded enough to count as plants.
6/14/2006 8:00:36 AM
a male vegetarian?id wager you get enough "protein" as a result of your choice of lifestyle.
6/14/2006 8:59:43 AM
holy shit.... ^ you guys really do flame all the fucking time....but aside from all the b.s. thanks to the two people who actually gave me some actual help...
6/14/2006 9:42:45 AM
you don't eat fish or seafood??
6/14/2006 9:44:56 AM
no i consider that meat... basically if you have to kill the animal... and i know eggs is borderline in some peoples opinion but i dont think so
6/14/2006 9:47:16 AM
wowi debated going veg. for health and weight reasons once, but it lasted all of 12 hoursseafood is what got me
6/14/2006 9:49:27 AM
well what if the fish dies of a shark bite.or a chickens head gets eaten off by a gator.does that count as killing it to eat it?
6/14/2006 9:52:15 AM
^hahahahi always have questions like that tooi've always wondered if ppl are vegetarians for the whole "humane" aspect of it feed their pets regular dog and cat food
6/14/2006 9:54:32 AM
i am not exactly the biggest fan of pets either... nothing against them.. just never had one... ^ you have a good point that is kinda wrong. and i probably wouldnt keep one for that reason.^^ if it was killed by another animal i dont have some overwhelming urge to eat it anyway. i dont care how it was killed. if the gator killed it... then let the gator eat it.^^^ your the first person ive heard say that.. its usually chicken... but ehh... try again
6/14/2006 9:56:59 AM
^^i just realized how clumbsy of a sentece that was and to think that i'm in college
6/14/2006 9:59:00 AM
Is the reason you're a vegetarian because you think eating animals is wrong, or is it just for health reasons?
6/14/2006 10:27:50 AM
how bout i tell you its tofu, but its really chicken. will you get mad?
6/14/2006 10:30:23 AM
mostly cause i think its wrong.... not really for health reasons, i dont eat that bad to begin with...[Edited on June 14, 2006 at 10:31 AM. Reason : ^ yea i would shoot you in the face...]

egg whites
6/14/2006 10:32:43 AM
are egg whites significantly better better than the whole egg?

6/14/2006 10:41:01 AM
I honestly don't understand why people feel the need to jump all over veg*ns. Do you feel the need to justify your own diet? Anyway, to give some medical information to the pet question:I'm working toward veganism, but I still feed my cat "normal" cat food because they cannot digest proteins from anything other than animal sources and because they require taurine(which almost exclusively comes from meat sources). Trying to make an obligate carnivore into a vegetarian would be cruel. (That doesn't mean that people don't do it though.)Dogs on the other hand are like humans in that they can go from an omnivore to a herbivore safely.

boil some eggs and eat the whitea ton of protein in that stuff, the yellow is mostly cholesterol

"I'm not a vegetarian because I like animals; I'm a vegetarian because I hate plants."
6/14/2006 11:24:54 AM
^^^^ ^^^oh i didnt mean to sound like i was jumping on your case, but i just was curious if vegetarians made their pets eat like them, and would they make their kids be vegetarians too....i'm just very curious about how far they'll go to press theiir beliefs (I know this sounds like I'm being mean or whatever, but i'm really not-honest question)[Edited on June 14, 2006 at 11:27 AM. ^^^I wouldn't worry about cholesterol unless there is a history of high cholesterol in your familyDo you like cottage cheese? 1 cup has like 12g of carbs and 28g protein[Edited on June 14, 2006 at 11:30 AM. Reason : ]

^Sounds like my kind of group 'cause I love some tuna, turkey, a nice big slab of steak, and chicken. Fried rockfish is sooo good. Oh, and baked chicken; I cook mine in those cooking bags and they always come out so nice and tender. Stuff that badboy with some celery and green peppers give it nice flavor. Put some seasoning on it... Damn, I'm getting hungry. I think I'll cook a chicken and some fish for my fam when I go home next weekend, seeing as I don't have a stove down here. Not a big fan of pork, however.

Whey protein is a good supplement even for non-veg folk. You do dairy, so that's an easy answer.[Edited on June 14, 2006 at 1:44 PM. Reason : save the hedgehog]
6/14/2006 1:33:14 PM
What moron doesnt have enough self control to not eat living beings... ^^^Would drinking a considerable amount of milk do just as well or would you recommend whey protein?
6/14/2006 4:02:42 PM
the prob with dairy is its fat content. reduced fat milk, cheese ect...also has reduced protein.Get the whey, mix it with one bannana, some berries, oj, and ice. Blend and enjoy.but keep in mind that the average person can only process about 20g of protein at a time, so if you intake much more than that, it's going to waste.[Edited on June 14, 2006 at 4:10 PM. Joie-No harm done, just explaining some animal nutrition facts. The whole annoyance part of my post definitely wasn't directed at you. I know a lot of vegans online who feed their cats a vegan diet and while they survive, it just isn't good for the animal.I'll definitely be feeding my kids vegan/vegetarian even if I end up with a meat eater. When they get old enough they can make the decision for themselves.[Edited on June 14, 2006 at 4:47 PM. Reason : ]
