when the aol guy threatened to void the cancellation... that would seriously set me off, but I guess he knew it was being recorded
6/13/2006 11:05:45 PM
I didn't think it was that funny. Annoying, but not to a large degree. At least the AOL guy was a native english speaker. In fact, you know what.... those guys have a script that they have to read. I'd probably fuck with the guy a little bit just to make my day a little more interesting.
6/13/2006 11:07:37 PM
I was expecting it to be worse. Funny none the less.
6/13/2006 11:08:29 PM

my dad is STILL trying to get $200 credit back promised to him by AOL. they gave him $71 instead of $200 so he has to go through all of the bullshit again (faxing to random places, and fax #'s they give us don't work 2 out of 3 times)
6/15/2006 12:30:41 AM

6/15/2006 4:47:36 AM
BTTT...they are getting ready to interview this guy on MSNBC here in few....
6/21/2006 9:09:52 PM
What channel?
6/21/2006 9:19:06 PM
MSNBC.....they are talking about something else at the moment but sometime during "Scarborough Country" they are supposed to interview "Vincent Ferrari" or whatever his name is....
6/21/2006 9:21:02 PM
OK, I got it now. Thanks anyway.
6/21/2006 9:27:31 PM

6/21/2006 9:38:52 PM
i concur
6/21/2006 9:39:45 PM
They should've gotten the Jon guy in on the interview.
6/21/2006 9:51:32 PM
Good segment though....sure AOL loved having the truth shown on TV...even if it is MSNBC and only the 3 of us saw that segment
6/21/2006 9:53:05 PM
Hahaha- John got fired!
6/21/2006 9:55:47 PM
Dunno if anybody noticed, but that link links to another site that had it mentioned that the AOL rep was fired.Guess they are trying to save face now.
6/21/2006 10:01:26 PM
Retention specialist - what a job title.
6/21/2006 10:06:49 PM
Hah, the guy was probably just doing what he was required to do by his supervisors. AOL=slime.

6/21/2006 10:27:11 PM
There shouldn't be any conversation at all with the guy. Just cancel. Don't answer his questions, just say cancel. Cancel. That's it and that's all. I think this was staged.
6/21/2006 10:29:12 PM
Some fat cellphone seller wanted his 5 minutes of gloryjackass
6/21/2006 10:30:50 PM
^^probably not staged. have you ever tried to cancel AOL? it's like pulling goddamned teeth.
6/21/2006 10:46:54 PM
It really is. It's a total pain in the ass.
6/21/2006 10:49:52 PM
My aunt had this issue and she blocked them from taking payments from her account. Cost her $8 (SECU), and they called her and she told them that she didn't want the account anymore, wasn't going to pay for it, tried calling but could never get someone so stopped payment. They then told her "You won't be able to access your internet anymore" and she laughed at them and said "I couldn't access it with you guys anyway so what's the difference?" and hung up on them. This was back when AOL was routing people to different numbers when the primary was busy so sometimes you would get long distance charges on your phone bill.

Pretty good. I got the run-around by Charter Cable one time. They promised to refund a bogus installation fee, and after seriously 50 calls or so, they sent a check, but it was not for the full amount. At that point, I just conceded. It wasn't worth wasting any more of my life to get an additional $10.
6/22/2006 12:56:11 AM
whenever I wanted like 6 months free AOL, I would call up to "cancel."
6/22/2006 9:22:35 AM
AOL fired the guy and also this wasn't only on MSNBC, he made the interview rounds.
6/22/2006 9:28:03 AM
I have cancelled AOL only once, and they screwed up...it was a short phone call but what happened was that they charged me for 2 months even after cancelling. When I called them about it, the rep told me there's nothing they could do to give my money back. He/She told me to contact my credit card company and gave his/her name. I called up the credit card bank, and they refunded my money to me along with blocking all AOL transacations in the future.
