So I am running out of storage space on my personal domains host. Are there any email hosts that would let me host my MX record with them for free?I signed up for the Gmail for domains beta, but I doubt they'd choose my domain as it is non commercial. Microsoft Live offers 20 email accounts, but their interface is web only and uses IE exclusively. I want IMAP support.Anyone have any knowledge in this area?

gmail for domains allows personal domains to try it out - mine got approved.get a cheap host though and keep your stuff archived. i pay for 2gb of hosting space and that's enough for me. my PST file is never more than 300mb becuase i archive it every 2 months.i avoid imap by forwarding to gmail accountsi created 3-4 gmail archive accounts just to save my old mail so i don't have to keep it on my space (i.e. username.archive1@gmail.com, username.archive2@gmail.com, etc.) and i have my host set up to fwd mail to the archive1 account right now, and i'll change it when that fills up. it's a cheaper way around things since i usually just leave mail on the server for 20 days or deleted from the trash so all my computers running outlook download all my mail basically unless i feel i haven't sync'ed that computer to my mail server in a long enough time, in which case i just burn the latest .pst file to CD or thumb drive and copy it over.

but you see my mom, dad, and sis aren't that tech savvy...I just wanna get them to use their email like they are right now (Outlook+squirrelmail), but get some more space for my second domain (http://www.cerebrawl.com) that I am sharing with my own first domain. and with all this spam, the server is running out of quota.

I know you're looking for free, but I would check out a cheap webhosting service that provides you email. I actually have an account with DreamHost, which not only gives me all the website hosting stuff, but excellent email service which has IMAP and squirrelmail. I think I pay $7/mo (1 year in advance), and I started out with 20GB of storage, and they add 80MB/week (i think). They also allow unlimited domains/email accounts as long as you're within your storage quota.

I don't wanna switch my webhost though.http://www.tqhosting.com has been the best thing for my website for 2 years.

ok i gotchawould there be any way to split up the webhosting and email services?

yes, I can modify my DNS entry to point to a different server for mail.

switching webhosts isn't hard and you don't have any downtimei don't know why everyone's scared of itoh and gmail for domains has a limit for personal domains at like 5 accounts or something. at least that's what they did for mine.

lmao now that's what i call a loyal customeri'm a pure capitalist - i'll go with whoever's cheaper at the time[Edited on June 11, 2006 at 6:25 PM. Reason : it might be more being cheap than being a capitalist lol]

I have been using the Gmail for domains beta for about a week now. Pretty good, except that it is very slow at times
