I'm curious as to whether or not there are TA or paper grading positions available for undergrads?
I would really like to make some extra $$$ for tuition, etc, however I cannot have a set hour job right now.

ask the undergrad director in your department, they may know about a paper grader needed

as for TA'ing, generally the professor chooses their TA. my professor approached me asking if i wanted to be a TA, so unless you are approached i don't think you will be able to find a TA job

but again ask the undergrad director in your major, they will know if they need anyone

they have TAA's for PY 205. They grade tests, quizzes, and assist the TA in the lab. But I think they approach everyone that they want to do that.

If you are looking for something for Autumn 2006, you are too late.

Undergrads typically can't TA during the normal school schedule (Fall-Spring). However, if you ask the professor that is in charge of those labs or classes or whatnot, they might let you teach in the summer session.

If you're a graduate, you have more chances of teaching in the Fall or Spring

teach e115 or some other lab - very small scheduled hours - the rest is whenever you can get to it

CSC labs are your best bet as an undergrad. You must have at least taken CSC 200, and it probably isn't too late for the fall.

NCSU Temp Services is good too. They're like the leftover Work Study jobs and you make your own schedule, as far as I know. Just go to a department that you wanna check into, and ask. Thats probably the best way. I had a work study job that was merely scanning and making electronic documents available on the web for a whole semester. After I left, I don't think anyone else went into it. It paid me $10/hr. too. You should really check into that.

I have found that to be so for GERs, but not college-specific courses.

For those in search of summer work,

I am in the process of producing a new differential equations book.
There are around 150 figures in the book that could be produced with
MATLAB. The publisher will pay for having these done ($1500). It
would need to be done this summer.

The graphs are relatively simple. Plots of functions and phase
portraits. A certain good taste in what makes an attractive
illustration is as important as being able to work with MATLAB. I
would work closely with whoever wants to do this.

Both graduate and undergraduate students can apply.

Please contact me by email if you are interested.

thanks for all of the great ideas and feedback. I now have more options and ideas to think about for spring. I lucked out and received a good aid package, so I am thankfully not as destitute as I thought.
