lake wheeler had a scale. it only weighed 8 pounds. I thought it would have weighed a little more since it was exactly the same length as the record white catfish (13 pounds). But that could have been due to the fact its belly was completly empty, you could pinch the skin flush against each other from both sides.


Oh well, its the 3rd largest cat I have ever caught.

in this section of the Cape Fear river, catfish well over 50 lbs are not uncommon. most of the catfish around here are caught with a telephone though

like i said it wasnt big, but for a white catfish it is a good size. I was just curious on the weight of it since I have never caught a white before. Its not like i relled in a blue or fatty, heck I have caught channels more than double the size of this one.
