Selling a 2001 R6 with 11,500 miles for my friend. Pics in my gallery. Bike was laid down as you can see in the dented gas tank. There are also cracks in the plastics. All damages are COSMETIC and the bike has been thoroughly inspected and tested after it was laid down. Engine is in excellent condition this is a very fast bike. Mechanically this bike is flawless. All fluids have been checked and filled and bike is ready to go for the summer. Title is clean. Must have cash in hand if you want to take it for a spin. Helmet is included.

KBB has it at $5,150 retail value. Price is adjusted to cover repair costs.

NADA has an average RETAIL of $4,725 ... that would be near showroom condition.
No offence whatso ever, but the value of that bike, is probaly a lot lower than you think.

I guess my question is:
What exactly are you looking to get? what would get it sold, and be reasonable.

Don't shoot the messenger. Asking price is $4,500. You can call him at the number indicated if you want to negotiate. But pls don't call if you're not genuinely interested.

I wonder what happened to the guy who dropped it.

How fast was he going when he dropped it?

he didnt come out with a scratch. honestly he was making a turn when it happened and the bike went off the shoulder and onto some soft mud. Tahts why there are not a lot of scratches. I'm not going to pretend it was a soft fall but the gas tank being dented makes it seem like the fall was harder than it was.

That is a pretty big dent on the gas tank. If it was a hard landing, might have also warped the tank a bit near the joints.

Price now is $3,500 FIRM. He wants to get rid of it soon but he will not go lower than $3,500. That is a great price for a '01 R6 even in this condition imo. 919-264-6621

bump for a decent deal. Not a good 1st bike, but it shouldn't kill you if you take it slow.

i would disagree with having a 600cc as a first bike. Jeff you know how little experience I had before even buying my bike. I got a 600cc sportsbike and my friend got this R6 as his first. As long as you know how to ride and change gears there really is no difference. The only way you can really fuck up is very low speed turns because you have risk of dropping if you dont give enough gas or lean too much. Also you have much more power but that is not the bikes fault if you decide to gun it like crazy. And I also don't agree with the 'you can slip the throttle easy' argument because if you hold the handles properly you reduce the risk of inadvertant twists.

^I'm not understanding your statement. You agree or disagree? You seem to flip flop in your statement.

I'm saying that r6's are known for their sick powerbands, once you hit its peak power, its often 3-4x more power then just 1-2k revs before it. This holds true for most modern sports bike, but r6's usually spikes more there could cause break in traction (which could lead to crashes if not corrected, or in a turn) or looping it due to the sudden power increase. It depends on the maturity of the rider.

im saying that any 600cc bike is fine as a first bike imo if its a mature rider. i started off with a 600cc bike and am so glad i did. I just rode my uncles 250cc ninja and omg that thing feels like a scooter. totally different experience. like you said the rider has to be mature but most likely if someone saved up a couple grand than he is probably mature and a little older anyway.

yeah i thought $4500 was too steep. But honestly $3500 for a R6 even in this condition is fair. Will put up on craigslist soon so the offer will stand at $3500.
