Mapquest says 17 to the crazy detour through Edenton (Won't be taking that) and then on the 64-Bypass. If I remember 17 is a slow ride and travels through all those towns. Is there a faster route to Nags Head?

I have pondered this route myself.

17 is probably the best.

I'd almost say hit 117 and find a route from there but thats an hour up 40 near faison.

i remember when i was in high school i drove all the way from Hatteras to near rocky mount in like 3 hours

i left at 3am and drove at least 90 the whole way since there was no traffic or any other cars in sight

then i got pulled over on 64 right before 95 for a 109/65

I-40 to 903 to 11 to 64 to Nags Head

My fiance went to UNCW as an undergrade and she's from Nags Head. This was her route home.

what? Edenton is North of 64, why would you go up to Edenton?

oh I think because that was when US 64 was still two-lane through that segment and it was slow going in the summer time, now there is a new 70mph bypass from the end of Plymouth to the bridge at Columbia for US 64, it is very nice.
