I'm looking to spend a couple days in Myrtle Beach at the end of July, and I'm looking for a hotel. Doesn't have to be top notch, would prefer if it was on the beach or within walking distance to the beach. Any help would be appreciated.

There's a useless, douchebag answer.
5/30/2006 10:36:11 PM
Yeah I've tried searching and there are tons, but sometimes they don't list whether or not the hotel is on/near the beach. Some specifics could be, less than $100 a night, near the beach.

the dolphin

i stayed at one for 40 bucks like a month agoforgot the name of it though (it was right off kings hwy, kinda near 15-20th ave....but on the beach side of kings hwy)it was fairly small with white pebbles acting as a parking lot (it was also right beside a seafood place).....come to think of it, i doubt this really narrows anything down, but if you have time to hunt for a place to stay then follow my directions

i know most of them so the more specifics you give the more i can help you. if youre looking for cheap, on the beach and near downtown http://www.catoevilla.com is the best combo. it is small but the rooms are very clean. just as clean as the yachtsman's rooms.it is very competitive with the prices of alot of the cheaper ones that are very very far to the south end of the strip and it is 2 or 3 blocks from the pavilion. oceanfront.
5/30/2006 11:06:34 PM
Well, I don't plan on spending the majority of my time at the hotel, so it doesn't matter if it's cheap.

its 79 pool view 92 ocean view and as low as 52 for a villa across the street...all for july
5/30/2006 11:18:16 PM
I'll check it out, thanks

id probably stay at the fairfield over beside broadway that way you can walk at night and not have to worry about DUIs...i realize you're probably planning on drinking at the beach too but usually theres someone in your group too hung over to drink during the day so let him drive. And if not the chances of picking up a DUI at 3 PM are much less than they are at 3 AM.

last time i was in MB i stayed at the sheraton off of i think 21st - it was pretty nice
5/30/2006 11:22:54 PM
staying off the beach sucks ass. i hated being across the street the one time i did it. if youre looking to go all out yachtsman(hot tub every room, putt putt) breakers(insane pools, hot tub every room) and captains quarters(nice pools, bowling alley) have the best amenities. captains quarters is in need of a reno though and breakers may be the most expensive there.
5/30/2006 11:28:17 PM
http://www.redtreeinn.com not too shady, beachfront, cheap
5/30/2006 11:31:19 PM
we usually stay at the Sandy Beach, at 3rd south and ocean blvd.
5/30/2006 11:35:14 PM
one my fav's back in the day was captain's quarters.... bowling alley on the 6th floor... tons of pools indoors and out, restraunts (2), etc.... close to everything, and oceanfront (although you can get ocean 'view' room instead of oceanfront and save $)http://www.captainsquarters.com/amenities.cfm#[Edited on May 30, 2006 at 11:38 PM. capt quarters is not really close to everything. its pretty far south (past family kingdom) and also it has began to run down in the last few years. i remember being there for the detroit stanley cup series in 02? and it was still fine. when i went back in 04 it was alot worse and then last year my firend was staying there and i visited and the hallways smell like vomit.
5/31/2006 12:28:06 AM
They've re-done it since '04... and "Close" is always relative to what you like to do when you're there. I was never a big broadway on the beach and North myrtle/briarcliff/boardwalk kinda girl... I had a preference to the southern end (J. Edwards to eat, specifically) and try to stay at places i rarely left. Just the ocean was good enough.....The crown reef is pretty cool too, but rather expensive this time of year.... (South end, again)others I have stayed in and enjoyed:ocean park (mid)the reef (mid)yachtsman (mid)patricia grand (n)st johns inn (n)camelot (n)Then again, All those but one are ocean front, and you can go across the street and save about $50 a night in a lot of cases........ I also remember once going down there with no reservations and staying across the street from the Palace at the Wave rider (or something to that effect) and it was just fine for no longer than we stayed in the room.I used to be a complete junkie about the place (or my family was, rather).... We used to go to Myrtle 3 or 4 times a year........
5/31/2006 12:39:10 AM
ya i basically spend a month out of the year down there. camelot isnt really all that its just all dressed up on the outside. the others are for real though. nothing like being up in yachtsmans tower looking down at everything from your glass roomif just the ocean is good enough you might as well stay in nc cuz thats about all we have to offer.

I like the Martinique myself. It's kind of in the north section of Myrtle Beach (not NMB), so it's kind of farther away from the party scene, but it is still nice, in teh daytime it's not one of the more crowded areas on the beach. Rooms are nice too. It is on the beach, ocean front.[Edited on May 31, 2006 at 3:31 AM. Reason : add]

Spinnaker is awesome.

Spring Break '03 we hit up The Yachtsman. I highly reccomend it. You know, its the big, all-glass hotel and its very nice. Reasonable during the offseason and standard beach rates during the peak season. You won't regret it.
6/7/2006 1:10:49 PM
My parents have had a timeshare at the Yachtsman since I was like 5-- It's pretty nice + having the pier right behind it is sweet. I don't stay in the glass building though- I stay on the right side usually (for owners).Oh and FYI: Putt putt was torn out this year.~B~
6/7/2006 1:15:46 PM
^^^^ damn that sucks. that was the best cheap place.^damn that sucks. torn out for what?
