i don't know if sabres should be plural or not...but i'd like to comment about the animosity between the two sets of fans...it seems that a common theme among the sabres fans is that "OMFG NY IS ABOUT HOCKEY AND NOT FOOTBALL!" compared to NC...well regardless who wins this series, what about the fucking bills? they might suck now, but how many fucking times did they lose in the superbowl? i'm not a bills fan, but damn they have lost in the big game so many times, but that is still something to be happy about... being in the game that much is a big deal....anyways i think i'm rambling now, but GO CANES!!!

I made the mistake of waiting till the last minute to get tickets to Game 5. I ended up getting tickets in the 331 top level which might as well have been ALL BUFFALO FANS. It fucking sucked. 90% of them were loud, disrespectful, obnoxious assholes that didn't know how to talk without using the word "fuck" 3-4 times in every sentence. Let me tell you, having to sit in that section was horrible UNTIL I got to watch everyone of them walk out. There were a select few that maintained a good amount of decency but most were typical NEW YORK people. Needless to say I have a new found hatred for Buffalo.GO CANES!![Edited on May 29, 2006 at 10:11 AM. Reason : I think I just can't stand people who are from New York-- not all but 95%]
5/29/2006 9:47:00 AM
I thought NY liked baseball
5/29/2006 11:23:22 AM
me and my friends got into a fight with some sabres fan after the game which eventually lead to the hurricanes winning the super bowl and many times as the bills had (yes just like the scoreboard from game 2 if you were there)
5/29/2006 11:45:26 AM
the Sabres arena gets MUCH louder than the RBCdecible-meter be damned
5/29/2006 11:47:46 AM
but the TV doesn't reflect a bit of how loud it is[Edited on May 29, 2006 at 12:19 PM. Reason : it=rbc center]
5/29/2006 12:15:08 PM
i hate hockey due to my one experience going to a gamewhat game was it you ask? canes vs sabresobnoxious people
5/29/2006 12:17:51 PM
ummthe cameras/microphones are the same in both of the arenasthe fans are louder (and continuously loud) in Buffalo than in Raleighyou think there's some conspiracy that InHD/OLN makes Buffalo seem louder by adding filler noise?case closed
5/29/2006 12:17:53 PM
^ i didn't say if either one was louder im just saying at least for the RBC Center the noise from the TV is nothing compared to how loud the RBC Center is, i didn't say anything about the sabres
5/29/2006 12:19:28 PM
so if the noise at RBC is deafening in person, but mediocre on TV then the noise in Buffalo's arena must be absolutely insane because it sounds much louder than Raleigh on TVthat's all
5/29/2006 12:21:22 PM
Or the microphones are set up differently.[Edited on May 29, 2006 at 12:28 PM. Reason : I think Game THREE was teh 133 dB level though..]
5/29/2006 12:23:47 PM
actually they measured it and the RBC Center is louder. sorry.
5/29/2006 12:25:57 PM
yes, i know. 133 dbit is louder (and continuously loud) in Buffalothe fans up there are better and know more about hockey. they cheer louder for big hits. the cheer louder for breakaways. they boo louder for penalties. and they fill in around those big roars with good, continuous noisethe RBC gets awkwardly quiet for stretches of time
5/29/2006 12:29:30 PM
nah dude, you are wrong. they measured it.

5/29/2006 12:41:56 PM
umm the section of Sabres that I sat in last night didnt know A GOD DAMN THING ABOUT ANY OF THE RULES OF HOCKEYEVERY DAMN CALL, THEY WOULD SCREAM AND BITCH IF IT EVENTUALLY WENT AGAINST CAROLINA, however, after much confusion and the referee STATING that the penalty would go against CAROLINA, then they would run their mouth about how it was a good call.not one of them knew what the fuck was going on the entire time during the game except when they lostwhich was hilarious because there must have been 40 of em in my sectionCanes fans are obnoxious too, dont get me wrong. However, I've never seen such open stupidity since the last time I was in the Dean Dome[Edited on May 29, 2006 at 12:57 PM. Reason : .]

listen, this is not a troll attempt.I think a lot of buffalo fans get frustrated with canes fans simply bc they don't know a whole lot about hockey. I mean you guys go out and support your club which is great, but you really don't know a whole lot about what is going on. I mean you can follow the plays and stuff, but I find a lot of canes fans have trouble deciphering when something is a good chance versus a bad chance. For instance in yesterday's game, one of the canes threw a puck from the o-blue line into the opposite corner (just dumping to the forecheck) and it seemed like the whole stadium gasped like it was some great scoring chance, i mean the player was just dumping it, and the puck wasn't even moving fast or on target. Also, I feel that canes fans really don't know too much about strategy, comparatively of course, and this causes a lot of sabres fans to get annoyed that the canes are so good.HOWEVER, the canes are a fantastic hockey club, and people around here have reason to be excited about them. Of course canes fans don't know as much about hockey as other areas, they haven't been exposed to the game as much, you guys are still young in your hockey knowledge development, and if a good team is what is needed to spread the game to the south then I think that's great. I think it's great so many people down here are getting into hockey, and I just hope they don't drop it if the canes have an off year. It's ridiculous for fans to argue about who knows more and what not, canes fans' knowledge will come with time, and their lack of knowledge doesn't mean they still aren't good supportive fans. They will continue to learn as time moves on; their presence should be welcomed and encouraged, not shunned. So in summary, let's stop all this who's fans are better bullshit. Who cares how many unemployment checks the buffalo government sends out? Who cares how many caniacs don't know what a 3-3 is? What's important is that we are amidst an absolutely fantastic hockey series, and that a great game is growing to a new region. It's about the two clubs playing, not the fans. Can't we all just get along? [Edited on May 29, 2006 at 1:10 PM. Reason : sdaf]

heres what i'll do, if there is an OT winner goal in game 6 for the sabres or something just as big i'll throw it together on the same system, same volume and same channel blah blah tomorrow.. for now:http://ncsu1.info/video.php[Edited on May 29, 2006 at 3:19 PM. Reason : and obviously this isn't what the sound meter in the anrea would be anywhere near]
5/29/2006 3:18:51 PM
what's the -6.7 mean, is that like the same measurement as volume on my amp?
5/29/2006 3:32:56 PM
BTW, OLN *does* add filler noise on its broadcasts. It also adds a faux goal horn for the visiting team that's recorded to make it sound like it's in the arena.I know plenty of Canes fans who know a lot about the game, and have seen plenty of Buffalo fans that know next to nothing. I won't pretend that I wasn't embarrassed, however, when about two months ago the away team had a hand pass in their defensive zone (completely legal) and everyone went crazy for a whistle.
5/29/2006 3:45:07 PM
i like when opponents go crazy for a "dump into crowd from D zone" penalty when it bounces off a stick or the glass first.
5/29/2006 3:46:12 PM
im a caniac! are you a caniac? im one! i cant wait to see how we do in the tournament. what do they mean when they say "icing" during games? are they talking figuratively about "icing on the cake" or something?
5/29/2006 3:48:02 PM
i was born in Buffalo um, go Canes tho
5/29/2006 4:04:43 PM
ok, its fine and dandy to have a bandwagon, but so many people i know that never talked about the hurricanes before the playoffs are suddenly these massive "caniacs".
5/29/2006 4:08:33 PM
so?
5/29/2006 4:13:29 PM
i've been a "caniac" since they got here, WHORE.
5/29/2006 4:20:02 PM

For game 5, I sat in a section with a handful of Sabres fans who cheered loud, but were totally fine. However, after the Canes awesome game winner, nearly every Sabres fan I saw couldn't help but make a douche of themselves. Regardless of their compared hockey knowledge, these guys couldn't have seemed more ignorant. I have been to games with some bad fans, Eagles-Giants for example, where the stadium has way too many away fans. Now I didn't see any fistfights or anything, but the Buffalo fans could have atleast been creative with their yelling. They basically repeated "We won the war", and various conjugations of "fuck your mother". Whatever, thanks Buffalo fans for contributing to the Raleigh economy, and have fun on your LONG drive home, cause there isn't going to be a game 7. GO CANES!
5/29/2006 5:22:49 PM
Let's be honest. This is a 10-year-old venture. 8 if you don't count the two years in Greensboro. The first season in the 'boro was when I first started watching hockey with more frequency than just the playoffs, and the first season I even thought about figuring out the rules.I still don't know everything. Hell, I've been watching basketball since before I could wipe myself and I'll still every once and again tripped up on an "oh my God he totally walked" moment. It happens, especially to a group of fans who are still trying to learn the game.We have a lot of Johnny-come-lately's to the party. Especially with half of the season ticket holders getting priced out of their seats. So if a guy doesn't know what a forecheck is, go easy on him. If he thinks a penalty should be called, especially in this series, it's probably because something that looked just like it got called on one team or another earlier in the night. The Buffalo fans I sat near last night were (mostly) nice people who were lovely to have friendly smack-talk exchanges with.
5/29/2006 5:37:52 PM
You know whats funny about this? We "rednecks" got along great with the canadian fans...refering mostly to the toronto series in the stanley cup run that year. All they wanted to do was drink beer, party, and cheer loud but they were just as friendly after a loss as they were after a win....and nobody likes canadians, but they were great.
5/29/2006 6:43:19 PM
Buck Fuffalo.I had a lot of fun calling the heat on the carload of Sabres fans that thought it would be funny to buy beer from me, then crack the 12-pack open and pass the beers out to everyone in the car as they drove out the lot.Thank you for coming to Raleigh Sabres fans. DON'T COME BACK.I'd rather be locked in a room with 132472349247 Leafs fans than those assholes--at least the Leafs fans are cool once you show that you know hockey and know something about their team.
