I can't seem to get the IMAP server to map into Mail on a MacBook Pro, 10.4.x. Anyone else have this problem? and find a solution?

^^ It will do absolutely nothing. Repairing permissions never fixes any problems, but it's always the first suggestion.

Is there any possible way to configure mail to send and receive Gmail? I am not a big fan of browser-based E-Mail. I guess I'm old fashioned. I know there is an HTTP plugin for Mail that allows it to work with Hotmail and Yahoo, but as far as I know, it does not handle Gmail.

just go into accounts and set your pop server to pop.gmail.com

works fine for me for gmail. don't think there was anything special to it.pop.gmail.com username is full email address: yourname@gmail.comsmtp.gmail.comport 995use SSL
