It all makes sense now.[Edited on May 21, 2006 at 8:55 PM. Reason : this was actually not a supirse, all you had to do was notice the media coverage]

I lost all confidence in the voting mob in 2004, so the re-election of Nagin in NO and Nifong in Durham comes of no surprise. It's not a matter of voting Democrat or Republican but a vote for sanity that has been lost.[Edited on May 21, 2006 at 10:28 PM. Reason : grammar ninja something something]

^^I'd say anything's better than another Landrieu though, they're like the fucking Kennedys of the South...

The NO election tells me three things:1) The media grossly underestimated how many displaced residents would cast ballots2) The complete reversal of support of Nagin. in '02, Nagin won with mostly white votes and most blacks didn't care for him. After his "chocolate city" speech, blacks rallied behind him and whites went ABN in the election3) Nagin's day of glory may be short-lived. People want the city to be rebuilt a certain way and if it isn't, he's gone in '10. It may have been a blessing for Landrieu or the guy who finished third in Round 1 that he didn't win b/c the pressure is really going to be on Nagin. The alternative is that I could be wrong and the end result being that NO's citizens may have shown their incompentence just like Washingtonians did when they reelected Marion Barry as mayor in 1995 and watched idly by as the nation's capital was run well into the ground.[Edited on May 23, 2006 at 2:37 AM. It's Louisiana politics...about as relevant to the national political scene as who wins a DC primary.
5/23/2006 2:48:06 AM
But Mark, there's always the entertainment value!
5/23/2006 8:53:31 AM
This is also true.Louisiana, the state the Nation can laugh at...and cry for. If they elected good political leadership, what would become of the blues?

I never understood why this was national news anyway. Who the hell cares who wins the NO election? I think the media should continue concentrating on this NSA spying deal and all the other corrupt scandals in Washington. But thats not going to happen, so w/e.

Not that it matters to TGD and the other eight members ofthe Bush fan club, but Drudge seems to have made this up, along with hisstory about Al Gore's entourage in Cannes.
