I tried this strategy a couple years ago and it paid pretty big. I think it was with Smarty Jones. He won the Derby. I lost. So, for the Preakness, I took Smarty Jones. Didn't go too big, but I was up for both races combined. Then, at Belmont Stakes, Smarty Jones was huge favorite. I got 2-1 odds for Smarty Jones to lose. He got out to a lead and then got run down. Made about $300 total for the 3 races.Thinking of trying the same strategy this year. I had Bob and John (something like that...I might as well have had Bill and Ted) for the Derby. Will prob. put about $50 on Barbaro today, maybe $5 each on a couple underdogs. If he wins, I'll bet him to lose the triple crown in 2 weeks.

^ I see what you did there

^^I see what you did there.
5/20/2006 12:22:40 PM
that typically works but Barbaro might actually have the potential to win the crownits been decades since somebody won the Derby by so many lengths]
5/20/2006 12:50:16 PM
True. Just going to see how it unfolds, and if he's alive for triple crown in 2 weeks, I'll see what the odds are for the field against him. I put an average play on Barbaro, with a small play on Brother Derek. Very small play on Hemingways Key. Got a couple very small trifectas. Also a small play on Bonds to hit a HR today at 2-1 odds. Maybe he'll sneak some juice before the game. He's got to hit one eventually.
5/20/2006 3:00:15 PM
Bonds just homered! Hopefully a sign of things to come today for my gambling.
5/20/2006 4:34:28 PM
so what time is the actual race?
5/20/2006 4:46:16 PM
Sometime b/t 6 and 6:30. Prob. around 6:10, but should start watching by 6 just to make sure. Kind of like going through a small town. If you blink, you'll miss it. Good luck to any and all who are betting. Esp. me...

ESPN says 6:14

^ Everyone except the gamblers. We take our losses like men, and move on. Man, I knew it was trouble when he left the gate, but thought that opened the door for Brother Derek. I think my longshot came in 2nd. Not a good race at all, but a fun 2 minutes. Kind of like old man sex.
5/20/2006 6:35:50 PM
^^i don't think that qualifies as 'heroic'[Edited on May 20, 2006 at 6:36 PM. Reason : ]

5/21/2006 10:10:59 PM
BobbyDigital, yeah, I'll do just about anything for money. And some of those guys will pay just about anything for sex, so I guess it all worked out. Good money, but overall its a real pain in the ass.
5/21/2006 10:17:28 PM
That fucking horse owes me $30. Each race is the same....wait for the guy to say "Go".
5/21/2006 10:19:53 PM
BTW, no props on my Barry Bonds bet? I've been waiting and waiting on when to make that bet. I finally felt like that was the day, and placed the bet. He hits one on his first at-bat. No love...no love. Won on Deeee-troooit Basketball today. Didn't watch much of it, but I'll take the payout. Soul Train gets my thanks. Looking at a ML parlay with the 2 Homers tomorrow night. D'oh
5/21/2006 10:22:44 PM
