that was an incredibly stupid and pointless story.

It was a very superficial story that missed much of what goes on here. It was in the genre of “the internet is scary” type story. And the students who acted surprised that at a school of 30,000 there are some college students who enjoy nudity was kind of ridiculous. It did mention a few positive aspects, but still felt more like a shock value story… but it’s only local news… so what ever fills the time slot I guess. I say any publicity is good publicity… if more people sign up because of this; they’ll get a better first hand experience of what it’s about. It seemed like it was School tool (as a small good) vs threads from Chit Chat (as a larger evil) which misses most of the sections and many of the users here... the news discussions & life decisions people talk about in the lounge, the reminiscing about the history of the school in old school, the school pride fostered in sports talk, entertainment was utterly left out, as was the helpful advice from the garage, the sometimes intelectual debates on social issues in the soap box, the beneficial feature of classifieds, and study hall didn't seem to get any attention either... although I think school tool or some other academic feature did. The local events, the lastest stories, the news before any local news gets it, were missing and the community aspect felt down played when put one equal ground with nude professor pictures. How are there students at ncsu acting surprised that people in college are fond of nudity? Also putting tww up side by side with facebook & myspace seems somewhat disingenuous when they are very different kinds of sites. Myspace is massive, tdub is community oriented.[Edited on May 18, 2006 at 6:09 PM. Reason : .]
