Why do you people think that the second one was bad? I've seen both, and I really liked the second one. Not as much as I liked the first one, but I still thought it was pretty good.

so... are we looking at a modern day Friday the 13th, Halloween, or Nightmare on Elmstreetish series?

will it go the distance into crappy cable syndication... eventually leading to some battle between it and Hannibal Lecter?

[Edited on May 16, 2006 at 8:17 AM. Reason : (i shouldn't pair those two, but i couldn't think of anyone else off the top of my head)]

There are actually horror movies that have done this?

I like 'em both. I worry about a third one, but I'll probably watch it because it's the closest thing to a good new horror franchise there is.

Oh, of course.

But by cable syndication I thought you meant that they became a regular TV series or something.

They did. Freddy's Nightmares was a Tales From the Crypt type of show that was awful, and SciFi ran a Friday the 13th: The Series that was entirely unrelated, but definitely trying to make bank off of the idea that Jason could show up at any moment.

(Nonsequitor: I think Jason X is a fantastic movie)

naw... my bad, poor choice of words...

by crappy cable syndication i meant reshowing all the shitty movies of the series on cable all the fucking time...

^ i had no fucking clue about that... but it does sounds shitty as hell...

^^You have no idea just how shitty those shows were. Which makes you luckier than me, a dork who watched them pretty consistently with the idea that "THIS one will be the one that makes it all worth it." Retarded. I know.

I doubt that we'll ever see Jigsaw hosting a showcase short horror stories or any other type of non-movie bearing Saw's name. But we will probably be seeing Saw IV on USA on Saturday afternoons in 2014.

The jason X comment

I agree. I cannot readily recall a time in my life where i have laughed harder than when those two topless chicks start making out and hitting on jason and he just fucking snaps and in the next cut he's beating them against a tree inside their sleeping bags

I'll see it...I loved both the 1st and the 2nd films.

You folks who bash on it just because bashing something popular is "cool" are retards. It is possible that a movie that does extremely well at the box office is actually halfway decent...I know that's shocking and all.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion on a film, but it's just painfully obvious some of these remarks are just made to be bashing what's in.

i really liked the second one.

and we MIGHT be able to display that poster. We were forced to take down a couple of previous Saw and Saw II posters due to "graphic violence" in the poster.

^^^ ahh, cancer can be very slow. Years sometimes. Not to mention it can go into remission then come back. So it's not that hard to believe. Also, consider the genre, i don't think they really care. the plot of this one is that he's on his death bed and his apprentice (the girl in the second one) kidnaps a doctor to keep him alive just long enough for him to see one of his victims finish one of his puzzles, or so it seems.

I'll at least rent it, the first two were decent enough.

"Jigsaw has disappeared. With his new apprentice Amanda (Shawnee Smith), the puppet-master behind the cruel, intricate games that have terrified a community and baffled police has once again eluded capture and vanished. While city detectives scramble to locate him, Doctor Lynn Denlon (Bahar Soomekh) is unaware that she is about to become the latest pawn on his vicious chessboard. One night, after finishing a shift at her hospital, Lynn is kidnapped and taken to an abandoned warehouse where she meets Jigsaw (Tobin Bell), bedridden and on the verge of death. She is told that she must keep the madman alive for as long as it takes Jeff (Angus Macfayden), another of his victims, to complete a game of his own. Racing against the ticking clock of Jigsaw's own heartbeat, Lynn and Jeff struggle to make it through each of their vicious tests, unaware that he has a much bigger plan for both of them"

"Comic-Con 2006: Saw III Cuts Loose
Lionsgate debuts exclusive footage.
by Stax

July 21, 2006 - Lionsgate debuted new footage from their forthcoming horror flick Saw III at Comic-Con International in San Diego on Thursday. The clip accompanied a panel attended by cast members Tobin Bell and Shawnee Smith, writer Leigh Whannell, director Darren Lynn Bousman and producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules.

The footage shown was a scene where an ex-convict named Troy is chained inside what appears to be a classroom. Troy is the unfortunate pawn in Jigsaw's latest game. "This game will take place in a room not much bigger than the room you've spent most of your life in," Jigsaw advises the frightened ex-con via a television feed. "Despite all the privileges you were given at birth, you returned to prison again and again."

Troy has chains pierced through his hands, feet, lip, chest and back. "It's time to see how far you're willing to go to break those chains, once and for all," Jigsaw says.

A beat-the-clock scenario then ensues where the ex-con must rips the chains from his flesh as the seconds run down. Blood gushes from the horrific wounds the ex-con inflicts upon himself while trying to escape his grim fate.

Lionsgate also confirmed that the teaser trailer for Saw III will debut in theaters with the August 4th release of the studio's The Descent."
