In sports century Roy Williams said Michael didn't talk to him for days after he lost to him in pool while they were at UNC. He is obviously really competetive, but that is probably what made him so good.

Besides being drafted high, I don't see how any rational person can compare Michael Jordan to Phillip Rivers. Jordan changed American culture. Rivers has not even started a game in the NFL.

^The scope of comparison should be limited to their collegiate statistics, records, and accolades. It's not fair to compare a retiree's track record versus a 2nd year pro.

I think that he was merely stating that both athletes had successful athletic careers, which Rivers did at NCSU, and that they managed to keep their noses clean for the duration of the process.

I don't agree or disagree, that's just how I read it.

why does everyone assume Jordan was clean? The original lakers dynasty was built on performance enhancing drugs, and steroids probably play a big role in why Magic Johnson is still kicking.

Who's to say that other players didn't take a lesson from the lakers? Michael Jordan dominated the NBA when he wasn't even the most dominant player on his team at UNC. I'm not saying that MJ was on juice, but I would be shocked to find out that the man didn't buy all the Growth Hormone he could get his hands on once he got that NBA salary.

I have a hard time believing Jordan would play in a card game where no money was on the line, that would make no sense to a guy like jordan. The words "for fun" don't exist to him I wouldn' t think.
