well for one thing, if they ever put on their transcripts/resume's that they lettered or even captained the Duke lacrosse team then they will be looked at differently by a possible employer. Being an athlete in college should be something that you are proud of, not something you should have to cover up.

plus, their names and faces have been all over espn and any other media source across the nation, so now their friends, extended family, classmates, co-workers will have this perception in their mind that they are rapists, no matter what the outcome of the case is.

Duke athletes do have to qualify at the school that they attend, therefore, if the academics are superior, then the qualifications would be higher as well. I'm sure there are students at Central and A&T that are geniuses, but on a whole, Duke students in general, and most likely the athletes as well would and should be smarter
