That's right kids, you may now backup your games.Anybody want this done? It only works on Samsung drives (not the hitachi/lg drive). I'm going to flash mine out in the next couple of days if I have the right drive.

^ throwing a lot of needless URLs won't support your case. The news that Noen posted was NEW. It has been "released". I am well aware of the guy that hacked it and didn't want to give it out for obvious reasons. Everyone knows this. But thank you for wasting our time.
5/15/2006 2:48:42 PM
the firmware was released, you just need to look in the right places

Definition for release:
5/15/2006 3:26:21 PM
This might make owning one of these remotely attractive.as soon as they release some worthwhile games, that is...
5/15/2006 3:56:39 PM
i got the ps3 firmware hack the other day
5/15/2006 5:08:47 PM

5/15/2006 5:35:15 PM
titties?
5/16/2006 8:53:37 AM
What does this hack allow you to do? (Speaking of titties, can I change the Xbox logo on system boot to something ... different?)[Edited on May 16, 2006 at 12:26 PM. Reason : .]

don't tell that to smoothcrim.....cause he knew about that in 2004!
5/16/2006 4:55:52 PM
soo what exactly does this do for a non-computer guy? i no one of my friends had a modded original xbox that he stored games on...is that what this is??
5/17/2006 1:45:53 PM
You can't yet store the games on the HDD like you can with a modded original Xbox. All this allows you to do is play "backups" (i.e. illegal copies downloaded from the internet or copied from Blockbuster) burned to a DVD-R.
5/17/2006 1:53:46 PM
nicee...ill pay someone to do it to mine if they get it down pat
5/17/2006 2:12:01 PM
I would hold off until they come up with a more permanent solution. There's a very good chance that MS will release a new dashboard update in the next few days that will a) fix this holeb) permanently ban your 360 from ever getting on Xbox live servers againc) be required to run any new game that gets released from this point forwardd) any combination of the aboveSo basically if you do this you'll very likely be stuck with a $400 machine that can only play the games that are currently available and can't connect to Xbox Live at all. It's just not worth it at this point in time, IMO. Unless you get something like this which supposedly allows for switching back and forth from the hacked firmware to the legit one. But again, IMO, that's still too much trouble than it's worth at this point in time.
5/17/2006 4:42:22 PM
Yea, give it another week or two for a plug'n'play solution to come out to switch between firmwares. The REAL bitch about this is the retarded process you have to go through to backup your discs. Though I'm sure we'll see new ISO's on the newsgroups soon enough
5/17/2006 5:04:08 PM
Excuse me what Noen, why are you actively participating in this thread and know so much about this stuff?I figure someone who is so vehemently anti piracy wouldn't apparently be actively involved in this. Don't tell me this is for backing up your own stuff.
5/17/2006 5:12:30 PM
^ God Damn you are a toolbag^^Soon Enough?]
5/17/2006 5:17:33 PM
my favorite thing about my xbox is my ability to backup games to the HDD. This is a good step towards that and being able to put emulators on.
5/18/2006 12:15:33 PM
^^^Because, like the original xbox, the only reason I bought the thing was to use as a media center. It's the exact same reason I got this one early, in the hopes that they would crack open the early models first (if at all).I don't really play video games. For the 360 I bought PGR2, Geometry Wars, Smash TV, Tiger Woods 2006, and rented Burnout 3. In the last month I might have played on it for 3 hours. I used my old xbox to watch movies, stream video from the PC (mostly Atomfilms/youtube type ish), and queue up my music from my pc. So eat my baby ^^If you actually checked any of those (or kept up with newgroups at all), you'd know they are all completely worthless raw dumps.
5/18/2006 12:48:52 PM
Id look into this... if only I actually had a 360
5/18/2006 3:08:46 PM
if there were more than a couple good games it'd be worth it i guess
