I've eliminated caffine all together, but still only sleep 3-6 hours a night. Anyone got any of those home remedy ideas that theyve tried & that work?

exercise+good sex

as you get closer to bed time, turn out all lights, turn the tv off and read/have sex. Don't stay in bed longer than 15 minutes awake, unless you are getting it on.

I usually rearrange me closets or do some type of house work. That makes me sleepy really quick.

^those are drugs .... if youre afraid of using drugs, youre afraid of dependency, so substances you ingest arent what the question is about

If you are physically tired, you'll fall asleep easier. If you are still having trouble sleeping and are physically tired, you've got something on your mind which won't let you sleep easily ... take care of that if you can.

Also, the bed is for sex and for sleep ... don't read or do HW on it.

Take a melatonin right before bed

I know you said no-drug cures but this really isn't a "drug" its a naturally occuring substance in the body, the melatonin pill won't make you "sleepy" but it will help you fall asleep faster and keep you in a sounder sleep.

You WILL NOT get a dependancy on MELATONIN. Ever.

Studys have demonstrated it doesn't have any impact on natural production of melatonin. If you take it, it does not effect the bodys production of it.

anything you take for sleep, even if it [physically does nothing, can cause a dependency

that's the same as placebo effect. For that matter, if you believe that spinning around 3 times or eating an apple before going to bed will help you fall asleep you can become dependant on it.

yes, very much so. But it still doesn't change the fact that:

Melotonin chemically/physically NOT addicting/dependancy forming

Melatonin along with anything else CAN produce a psychological dependence (placebo effect)

if it works (physically) then it has to be addicting. youll need to keep taking it if you want to sleep. if you fix the problem, the actual issue, like perhaps a drug youre taking like caffene, or something else, or perhaps youre stressed which can resolved -- then you would have a permanent solution

One easy way to "take" melatonin is to turn off the lights. That will stimulate your brain to start secreting it into your bloodstream.

The pill lets you leave the lights on longer.

^notice the " " around "drug". I meant it as in this isn't like Lunesta or other prescription drugs that are can be addicting.

there is a tendency to think 'supplements' are natural and have fewer side effects then FDA approved drugs. all this natural/herbal shit is not good for you just beacuase its 'natural'. melatonin is a powerful hormone and shouldnt be taken lightly.

if youre going to take an herb/drug/supplement for sleep or any disorder or disease, youre better off with a drug, they are studied much more, and a lot more is known about them.

use the college alarm clock (http://www.geocities.com/vinodtandon/cac/) and turn your speakers up to a high volume

Spritz lavender, vanilla or jasmine essential oils (or a blend of all three) on your pillow case or dab a bit under your nose at night. I hate the scent of jasmine and lavender but a mix of the two together totally knocks me out.
