exercise+good sexas you get closer to bed time, turn out all lights, turn the tv off and read/have sex. Don't stay in bed longer than 15 minutes awake, unless you are getting it on.

^those are drugs .... if youre afraid of using drugs, youre afraid of dependency, so substances you ingest arent what the question is about

Take a melatonin right before bedI know you said no-drug cures but this really isn't a "drug" its a naturally occuring substance in the body, the melatonin pill won't make you "sleepy" but it will help you fall asleep faster and keep you in a sounder sleep. http://www.melatonin.com/http://www.umm.edu/altmed/ConsSupplements/Melatonincs.html
5/14/2006 9:46:37 PM
^youll get a dependancy its a drug.
5/14/2006 9:50:22 PM
You WILL NOT get a dependancy on MELATONIN. Ever.Studys have demonstrated it doesn't have any impact on natural production of melatonin. If you take it, it does not effect the bodys production of it.

anything you take for sleep, even if it [physically does nothing, can cause a dependency[Edited on May 14, 2006 at 10:04 PM. Reason : 5]
5/14/2006 10:04:12 PM
that's the same as placebo effect. For that matter, if you believe that spinning around 3 times or eating an apple before going to bed will help you fall asleep you can become dependant on it.
5/14/2006 10:16:40 PM
and the placebo effect is real
5/14/2006 10:20:59 PM
yes, very much so. But it still doesn't change the fact that:Melotonin chemically/physically NOT addicting/dependancy formingMelatonin along with anything else CAN produce a psychological dependence (placebo effect)

One easy way to "take" melatonin is to turn off the lights. That will stimulate your brain to start secreting it into your bloodstream. The pill lets you leave the lights on longer.^notice the " " around "drug". I meant it as in this isn't like Lunesta or other prescription drugs that are can be addicting.[Edited on May 14, 2006 at 11:11 PM. Reason : .]

What about a sure fire way to wake up in the am.... i sleep thru my alarms often, it's hell for me.
5/15/2006 3:13:03 AM
drink a lot of water before bed so you have to get up to peeuse the college alarm clock (http://www.geocities.com/vinodtandon/cac/) and turn your speakers up to a high volume
5/15/2006 3:22:49 AM
Spritz lavender, vanilla or jasmine essential oils (or a blend of all three) on your pillow case or dab a bit under your nose at night. I hate the scent of jasmine and lavender but a mix of the two together totally knocks me out.
