Since when are college students expected to have perfect credit? every single half decent place i have checked out for a 1 bdrm for me and g/f requires great credit and my shit sucks. Anybody know some place that is decent and doesn't do the credit check crap? thanx

sorry they're all like that you're gonna have to get someone to cosign the lease....probably your parents...it's terribly demeaning

it's rediculous, like i have seriously gone through 2 tanks of gas apartment searching, like if they are cocks on the credt thing why not at least offer an online applications to save the hassle. damn.

Go with a private landlord. Find a student, usually a grad student or something, that owns a house or apt. and is renting out a room in it. That's been best for me - I've had problems with all of the "company" landlords I"ve had, but the private landlords have been great; plus it helps out a fellow student.

^thats what i have done since i've been in NC ie:jan1 2005, it was easy trying to find larger houses but seems almost impossible to find a landlord for a 1 bdrm. if anyone has a good ref. for me that would be excellent.

If you were responsible with your credit, you wouldn't have this issue. I have perfect credit & have never had any issues with getting a place. Why the hell would a landlord want a bum who doesn't give a rat's ass about paying their bills? I can't imagine why they wouldn't want to rent to someone like that But as previously said, w/o a cosigner, you'll have to find a private owner.

man up get a house

^^I'm 22 and have never needed a credit card or line of credit for that matter. bought my vehicle cash. i work for a living. there is a big ass difference between having "bad credit" and not having any credit at all. but thanx for the life lessons, much appreciated and def. helps with the apartment search.

It's not so much about credit as income. I suspect you've been denied because you don't have enough income. You'll need a consignor.

^nope, between the g/f and i we make just under a $1000 a week during summer when i'm not in class. u only need to have 3 times the rent monthly. it's based on the credit which is why i was seeing if anyone lived somewhere where they didn't check credit.

just get your parents to cosign like all the other college students
5/12/2006 9:12:41 PM
^yeah, about that, my bad there buddy. unfortunately my mother has shittier credit than i do. I don't have a mommy with a good job and a BMW. I'm a Scholarship/Financial Aid baby. If it was that easy would i have really posted to TWW to find someplace who doesn't check credit. Obviously your parents are getting their moneys worth.

you dont need to make a lot of money to establish a good credit history. they should be able to pass the credit check just because they are old and have been establishing their credit for a long time.i mean you already said that you make more money than they need to see.

sorry, i glanced over your post and thought you were saying she didnt make enough
5/12/2006 9:23:50 PM
naw man, i've got no good cosigner. havn't been home since i left for college. seriously though, there has got to be some decent complex that doesn't require great credit. i mean, it seems like if you make more than enough to pay rent in one week then that should be sufficient
