The information on the Distance Education page says that DE courses are not included in calculating full-time status. To receive financial aid for the summer you have to take six hours total. Would taking a DE course count in those six hours, since technically it doesn't count for full-time status?I was hoping someone might know from experience, but if not I'll find out from the financial aid office tomorrow.

hmm...i took a DE course this past semester....I only had 9 other hours EXCLUDING the DE course...as far as I know, i was counted as a "full time" student. Otherwise, i'm pretty sure I would have received a notification from someone about my student loan eligibility....

maybe you read it wrong? I'm pretty sure DE counts just the same as a regular on-campus class.

I had a screwy situation one summer where I was taking an NCSU DE course and a course locally at UNCC. Because it wasn't six hours at the same institute, I wasn't considered full time and didn't get aidReason I mention this, You tried calling Financial Aid/DE yet to figure all of this out? Only way you'll get a "correct" answer out of all of this.

Yep, I asked today when I took the form and they assured me that it counted. The only problem is that the class I wanted to take is on waitlist status. Philosophy of Science.
