you have until the 15th to turn in your app. you're going to get loans.
5/10/2006 2:32:40 PM
It's loans, not scholarships or grants. And if she transfered you to Bill Cox, never call him again-he's never there, never returns calls, and is always about 2 weeks late on emails. I understand he's busy, but he's my adviser and I think I've spoken to him twice because I just so happened to catch him in his office. Call the assistant lady-she's much more helpful.

go in the office and fill out the formsthe aid form is one page front and backno big deal takes 5 min
5/10/2006 2:41:15 PM
also, your financial aid caps out (at $10.5k for juniors and seniors, i believe) so if you've been using it for the past fall and spring, keep that in mind.

i am a grad student
5/10/2006 2:43:59 PM
isn't your department paying you?I thought all American grad students had fellowships/assistantships.[Edited on May 10, 2006 at 2:44 PM. Reason : .]

Well in my situation, he caused me to not get a $2500 grant because he didn't return my calls. I didn't know at the time that anyone else would/could help me because everytime I tried to call someone, they kept saying that ONLY he could help me. Now I know better and I just don't deal with him.
5/10/2006 2:56:51 PM
^I blame both parties. I've had to hand-deliver a number of things before and/or go in person to make sure it gets done.Financial Aid's website is out of date ... it says graduate stundents on a Federal Unsubsidized loan can only borrow $8,500 per year ... I think that number is supposed to be $18,500. Call and ask or go see them in person.
5/10/2006 3:29:54 PM
i got my shit paid for!!! (grad school, that is)
5/10/2006 3:34:00 PM
even if you have money in the fall and spring, i have yet to hear of a program that pays for the summer courses.
5/10/2006 3:45:00 PM

5/10/2006 7:32:58 PM

5/10/2006 7:39:28 PM
since i looked for his number online earlier this week and his name wasnt on the roster or anything and the ladies there said he left
5/10/2006 7:51:28 PM
5/10/2006 7:52:38 PM
go ahead and call that number, i got sent in a automated teller thing from hell. kept hitting 0, got nothing. then it sent me back to the beginning
5/10/2006 7:59:30 PM
515 2421 is, in fact, the fin aid office #. usually staffed by some underpaid student who doesn't give a shit, and just wants you off the phone. know who to talk to before you call, if possible.
5/10/2006 8:59:56 PM
Well, if he's really gone then we're better off. I've been told before that I am not the first or only person to complain about him and they know how he is/was. But I don't mean to bad-mouth him...She didn't tell me this, but the lady I deal with now is Julie Rice Mallette. She's the Associate Vice Provost for S & FA. I kow she's a busy lady, but she knows all the answers to all my questions right off hand, and always calls me back of she is too busy.

First, Bill Cox has taken a job with the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority (NCSEAA) and no longer works at NC State. His last day was April 14th.
5/12/2006 9:14:10 AM
they'll probably tell you that you used your financial aid for fall and spring and there's none left of summerwhich is bullshit
