I will be leaving one of my part-time jobs, so there is an opening that needs to be filled by the end of this month. It is at Brentwood Animal Hospital, located at 3810 Atlantic Avenue. The hours are usually about 10-20 hours per week. You would need to work 2 afternoon shifts during the week (Monday-Thursday) from 4pm until you are done with your duties (I'm usually done around 7 or 730 because I have gotten pretty speedy with the experience). Also, you would need to work every other weekend: 4pm-duties complete on Friday, ~6am-12pm and 5pm-7pm Saturday, and 8am-10am and 5pm-7pm Sunday. The weekend hours vary greatly depending upon the number of animals boarding and/or hospitalized. Every other holiday is also required. Your duties during the week, on the shifts beginning at 4pm, are as follows: Assisting the vet and vet techs with appointments and patient care until closing at 530pm After we close at 530: General cleaning such as mopping, vacuuming, wiping counters, etc Walking, feeding, medicating the animals that are boarding/hospitalized On Saturday morning: You need to come in early enough so that the boarding animals are walked, feed, medicated and cages cleaned by the time we open at 8am. I usually would try to be done with this by 730am because the doctor usually needs help with sick patients around that time. When we open at 8am, you need to assist with appointments (draw up vaccines, get weights on the animals, and other basic vet tech duties) until closing at Noon. Saturday evening, Sunday morning and evening: Walk, feed and medicate all boarders and hospitalized patients. The cleaning duties can be done during any one of these shifts. Pay rate is $8.50/hour. Call 872-6060 for more information and to set up an interview. Feel free to ask me questions I'm sure i forgot something! P.S. Unipride and Kitty B used to have this job also!

I had this job for 6 years before and during my first couple years at college (dad has his own vet clinic)- I must say it is a great job for those who like animals and isn't hard at all (I would actually consider it myself if I thought I could make the hours)

the place is nice and clean, and a fair price. i highly recommend it as a place to your pets, even if you don't want the job.i will point out this is a job where your patience can run thin, because perfection is something the owner strives for, though you can't blame him for it. but i watched 5 people working the complement of my shift quit while i was there. if definitely helps to have thick skin.

I worked there as one of the longest employees in this position for 2 years. If you can clean, and learn quickly you will excell. If you are interested in vet med you will get great hands on things (most places start you only doing kennel work first).
