ALL this yearbecause that would give Sidney Lowe an NBA Championship ring, something that K and Roy do not haveand if you want to recruit NBA-level talent, the ring will help a lotGo Pistons
5/9/2006 11:22:58 AM
yup yup!Go Pistons!
5/9/2006 11:23:54 AM
hey, not like i've got anyone else to cheer for...Go Pistons!
5/9/2006 11:28:55 AM
what??? this makes no sense.
5/9/2006 11:34:34 AM
I approve of this thread's intentGO PISTONSboooooooo NBA
5/9/2006 11:42:04 AM
^^Sidney Lowe is finishing out the NBA season as an assistant coach for the Pistons before he takes the State job...so if the Pistons win, Lowe will have an NBA Championship ring he can wear with his ACC and NCAA championship rings...it can't hurt recruiting...brings me back to my optimal Charlie Weis scenario...Weis didn't use college head coaching experience to recruit at Notre Dame because he had zero college head coaching experience, a la Sidney Lowe...but don't you think kids wanted to play for Weis partially due to his success and titles in the NFL with the Patriots? I see a possible similarity in recruiting tools with Lowe if the Pistons win the title
5/9/2006 12:12:51 PM
I agree with this thread.Although its hard to pull for fucking Rasheed Wallace! Oh well go Pistons Lowe!
5/9/2006 12:15:15 PM
yeah i hear you on the Rasheed thing...but at least its not Rasheed AND Larry Brown
5/9/2006 12:16:24 PM
I was trying to tell my roommate this, but he didn't think it would matter....but he also didn't think it mattered for football recruiting that we had 3 dline go in the 1st roundhe apparently doesn't understand recruiting....go pistons
5/9/2006 12:21:01 PM
you could argue that putting the 3 DL in the 1st round of the NFL draft would have a bigger/better impact on recruiting than if the Pistons won...but I know those big big diamonds couldnt possibly HURT bball recruitingand seriously, if we want to compete with Duke and UNC, we are gonna need NBA caliber players, and the ring has gotta help with that
5/9/2006 12:25:31 PM
oh, I definetly think it will help, my roommate tried to act like i didn't know what i was talking about on two separate occasions when i talked about these issues, but they obviously will both be effective.
5/9/2006 12:28:06 PM
what exactly is lowes job on the pistons? is he just an assistant head coach or does he have a specific area?
5/9/2006 12:31:45 PM
I could care less about the NBA so I don't have a team to follow. But it sho would be nice to see our new Head Coach with 3 rings to show off!I support this thread.
5/9/2006 12:33:17 PM
^^
5/9/2006 12:35:15 PM
I dont think it will help one bit... if he was the head coach, then yeah, but not an assistant in bball.
5/9/2006 12:35:21 PM
^do you think Charlie Weis had any kids that wanted to play for him just because he was an offensive coordinator?
5/9/2006 12:36:06 PM
thats why I said "in bball". Football it does matter, its MUCH more scheme orientated, Weis could carry over his system or at least parts of it to ND. Its not like that in bball[Edited on May 9, 2006 at 12:39 PM. Reason : t]
5/9/2006 12:38:52 PM
i agree football moreso than bball but i dont think bball has no effect on recruitingi mean, you gonna tell me some 17 year old baller who idolizes lebron and dwayne wade isnt gonna be impressed by an NBA Championship ring?
5/9/2006 12:40:45 PM
I mean mayyyybe a little bit, but I dont see them being like, HOLY SHIT! you were an assistant on the Pistons! badass! If he was Larry Brown or something then yeah, but he isnt
5/9/2006 12:45:37 PM
maybe flip saunders will become ill and lowe will step in as interim head coach and win a title
5/9/2006 12:50:16 PM
^and then we could kiss him goodbye
5/9/2006 12:56:43 PM
aha
5/9/2006 12:57:29 PM
who's sidney lowe?
5/9/2006 1:00:58 PM
you are an idiot.and GO PISTONS
5/9/2006 1:12:00 PM
haha, I love people on this message boardso blunt...yeah I agree lets go pistons
5/9/2006 1:17:08 PM
i thnk the pistons are going to win it but i'm rooting for the suns too
5/9/2006 1:17:54 PM
Who gives a shit if you have a ring as an assistant in the NBA, K or Roy could easily go join the staff of the Spurs, Mavs, or Pistons. I dare say Lowe is about a 100 rungs lower on the coaching ladder than either of those two, but I'm glad you are trying to spin it in a positive light.
5/9/2006 1:18:55 PM
it's kinda bittersweet though ... it'd be nice to have him already on the recruiting trail ... but hell, an NBA ring will do all kinda wonders for us in the futurenot to mention ... you can't help but watch tayshaun and big ben play D ... wow
5/9/2006 1:19:33 PM
i guess this goes well for cedric and the ben similarities that people like to come up withGo Pistons!
5/9/2006 1:43:58 PM
i think the only real problem with this is that in football, the coordinators and assistant coachs are actually talked about during games and during pregame shows...i don't think i've ever heard the name of an NBA assistant mentioned on tv until he signs to coach somewhere...
5/9/2006 1:52:59 PM
^ thats true too. I bet most people wouldnt have even know he was an assistant on the Pistons if they hadnt mentioned it when he got hired
5/9/2006 1:58:03 PM
5/9/2006 2:22:12 PM
cheer for the pistons anyways cause they are the best
5/9/2006 2:25:44 PM
5/9/2006 2:34:37 PM
well my point is that Lowe is in pretty good position to get his ring this season, then take the head coaching job at State next seasonI dont think K or Roy are gonna leave good programs to go get rings as assistant coaches...so I predict K and Roy will never have NBA rings
5/9/2006 3:57:34 PM
the lakers are out..so i'm going for the mavs and pistons
5/9/2006 4:58:19 PM
NBA assistants do a TON of work with player development. So while it's not like football coordinators, it's still a relevant issue.
5/9/2006 5:18:50 PM
regarless of whether you think it proves he's a good coach or not, having sid be on a championship team will definetly make a difference"i have been on a championship team, in college and the nba; i know what it takes to win; i know what it takes to get to that level; i know what it takes to get drafted" etc.... i mean come on guys, i know you are probably still bitter about the herb thing, but get over, this thread is correct
5/9/2006 5:55:38 PM
On the flipside...The sooner the Pistons lose, the sooner Lowe can start focusing on shit in Raleigh.
5/9/2006 5:57:54 PM
^a very legitimate point; hopefully he's doing both, but that's probably not true
5/9/2006 5:58:50 PM
Sid has a lot to take care of before he comes here, regardless.I'm pulling for a Pistons title (although I would be anyway), and hoping the rest of his staff is taking care of everything else in the meantime.
5/9/2006 6:00:30 PM
He should call Chris Wright from the locker room at halftime during the championship game and be like:
5/9/2006 6:01:36 PM
5/9/2006 6:03:08 PM
yes Go Pistons!!! (except rasheed wallace) by the way anyone know what's going on with chris wright and larry Davis. I saw they had interviews with pack pride & scout
5/9/2006 6:40:59 PM
ONE RING TO RULE THEM ALL
5/9/2006 7:35:09 PM
if lowe calls wright during half time, that's a recruiting violation
5/9/2006 8:11:06 PM
someone needs to call cleveland and let them know they have a playoff game tonight
5/9/2006 8:41:45 PM
here's an img someone can photoshop...
5/9/2006 8:53:53 PM
^THAT WOULD BE CRAZY.
5/9/2006 8:58:43 PM
everyone should root against the pistons so lowe can start doing his job--recruiting high school juniors and getting our guys ready for a tough year
5/9/2006 9:23:09 PM
