Im looking for a nice, clean, safe apartment or townhome to rent for the fall of 06, however, Im also definitely not looking for one with sky high prices. Anyone personally very happy with where they live? how long have you been living there? price per person? etc..

I have a locked in price of $747 per month for a 3 bedroom 2 bath apartment at KP. Been living in one of their apartments for the last 4+ years. If you're interested, you could get that price.

The townhouse apartments here are good. Its between a shopping center with a grocery store, gym, & a few places to eat & another shopping center - Crossroads which has a theater and plenty of place to shop/eat. Its just on the raleigh side of the border with cary, so its not too far from campus/raleigh, but its right beside Cary which was just rated one of the safest cities in the US... also its largely family oriented with some graduate & other students. I signed my lease again when given the chance... but I'm moving to another city now after 2 years here... I'll miss the place. Not too expensive on a students budget, they have some special deals for college students I believe.

The only places even close to "nice" you are going to be able to find as a 1br for 500 bucks a month are Cameron Court and Stratford Arms over by St. Mary's.

Anywhere else you go for 500 or less is going to be either crime ridden, bug ridden, or both.

Thankfully, mine is none of that, plus I get free wireless, a hug living room, huge bedrooms, awesome management, and monthly+ parties.

with the right student & time period deals you could get a 1050 sq ft townhouse at sumter square for "600ish." although you might want to go for the small townhouse instead if its only 1 person. (and the place has free wireless)

Sumter Square and "nice/clean/safe" should NEVERNEVERNEVER be used in the same sentence

that place is a dump and is filled with thugs and Mexican thugs

do NOT, under any circumstances, live there

you must have lived on the 3 bedroom apartment side of the complex rather than the townhouse side. 2 years, only 1 roach, no crime, nice neighbors, clean, and quick maintenance response time. lots of families and kids... seems safe enough.

Don't all places have regular pest control anyway?

KP had a contract with this one company that required everyapartment to take stuff out from the kitchen and pantry, but now they have another contract with a new pest control company that doesn't require that.

^^ OH, my bad. I forgot that there's a little driveway and a yard between the "nice" townhomes and the ghetto-ass apartments.

i'm naive for thinking that the criminals might find their way onto the "nice" part of the complex

Sumter Square pays some real police to hang around here 24-7, its on the border of Cary which was ranked one of the safest places in the US, and I’ve never heard of any crime around this part of the complex. I’m only saying from my experience it has been totally safe.

go to The Links on tryon rd.

i lived there for 2 years

they have 1,2,3 BR places

they are MUCH nicer than any places mentioned yet

they don't have Mexicans (didn't see a single one there aside from on a lawnmower)

they are competitively priced and they always have move-in specials (we got July paid for and $170 off each month)

and you practically live on a golf course

^^ valid, Duraleigh is a good suggestion..

I'll note that my place in the newer section of Trinity Commons by the RBC Center/Damons was really nice. Expensive, but about where you'd be. I think it ended up about $600/person with everything per month in a 2 bedroom. BUt it was like 1,200 square feet and really nice. Nice complex, too.
