I am considering buying an R6 with a salvage title. What exactly does it mean when a bike has a salvage title? Do the cost of repairs have to exceed 75% of the fair market value of the bike for it to be considered a salvage title? Also, to what extent does this affect the asking price of the bike? The owner has completely fixed the bike to look brand new so is it worth close to what a non totalled bike would be? Also, is there a way to find out what exactly what damaged on the bike if you think the owner is not telling you everything. He seemed to say that only plastics and foot and hand controls were damaged but I didnt think a bike would be totaled if that were the case.

if a bike has a salvage title it means the insurance company totalled the bike and the owner bought it back.^i wouldn't buy a totalled bike unless its gonna be one you plan on dropping or purchase for the sake of abusing.[Edited on May 5, 2006 at 7:28 PM. Reason : *]

The bike your talking about is kyle's R6 (green/blue gay colors). I helped to fix the bike up so I know whats with the bike and what not. Salvage titles are a bit tricky because I've seen salvage titles on almost brand new bikes where only the farings/paint job was ruined (which is expensive through dealership). They don't tell you whats wrong with the bike. But it gives you a flag on the bike to be cautious of buying. Get the full story of the bike and the damaged parts. Now as for that R6, the foot pegs and plastics aren't the only damage that he did to the bike (pretty much the whole bike got fucked minus the frame, engine, and cage. He replaced everything else on the bike with 02 R6 parts for a good sum of money. The only thing wrong with the bike is the throttle sticks (because of the spring is not pushing back, cheap to replace the throttle) and the plastics he got are a bit ghetto, but looks better when he had no plastics at all. Also, the cluster gauge doesn't work, but it maybe due to a simple wiring problem. He tried to use a new cluster gauge but didn't work.Btw, he's telling you everything he knows about the bike because he got PAWN the last time he tried to sell it. lolIf you want to buy kyle's R6 as your first bike, don't. You'll crash within the first minute. If you know how to ride, grab it and ride the hell out of it.http://thewolfweb.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=381713

The bike i'm looking at is in Greensboro and its an 03 limited edition with red flames. the guy told me that the plastics were changed out along with some hand/foot controls and it was all done at a dealership so is there any way that could total a bike out?

kyle's bike also has a clean titlebikes are easy to total with just small parts because those parts are so expensive from the dealership.

^I'm suprised he ever got that title from NY from the guyWhen you lay down a bike, the first things to go are the handlebars, footpegs, and farings. Depending on what kind of crash (front collision, highside, lowside, flipped) it's hard to say what kind of damages could be on the bike. Find out what kind of crash it was and how fast. Also R6's have one of the weakest subframes I've ever seen. I'd say you might want to check that out.If it just turnes out that it was just the handle bars and foot pegs that were damanged and changed out along with farings, I wouldn't be too worried about the bike. handle bar clip ons are like 40 bucks on ebay each and foot peg brackets are around the same price. Cheap and easy to replace.btw, stealerships cost for all new farings are $3,000+ and since its limited edition, it's prolly way more.[Edited on May 6, 2006 at 5:26 AM. Reason : ]

do you idiots even know what a salvage title means? if you pass inspection, you can apply for a regular title. simple. so the question is, will it pass?
